TalkSport is saying the fee for Schneiderlin is £12million.

Even thinking it might be that low gives me a semi.

Chairman Ralph Krueger declares that neither Jay Rodriguez nor Morgan Schneiderlin will be sold this summer.
"They are part of the core that we have decided to keep at Southampton," he says. "Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are not for sale and they will be a part of our club as we enter the new season."

Schneiderlin responds: @SchneiderlinMo4: 6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour !!!

Apparently was told he could only move if he handed in a transfer request. He did this morning, then the chairman released that announcement. Shit storm to ensue.

At this point, I would be surprised if Rodriguez and Schneiderlin transfered this window, especially if the reports are true about Rodriguez agreeing to personal terms already.

Schneiderlin really really seems like he wants Soton to die in a fire.

It's obviously because he's much better than Ben Davies.

Memphis Depay: http://metro.co.uk/2014/08/06/tottenham-hopeful-of-completing-memphis-depay-transfer-with-15-8million-bid-4822786/

Tottenham are set to make a £15.8million bid for Memphis Depay after he made it clear he wants to move to White Hart Lane.

Depay is one of this summer’s hottest properties after backing up his superb performances last season with a strong showing at the World Cup.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with him, butyesterday‘s reports in Holland now say the exciting wideman is heading to Tottenham.

According to the respected De Telegraaf, Spurs are set to make a £15.8million bid this week and expect it will be enough to get their man.

And also, we bought Musacchio! Not yet.

and Morgan Schneiderlin! Oh wait. But he's brining Jay Rodriguez! Except not yet I guess?

Deandre Yedlin? Come on down...after the MLS season and also probably not, but Twellman says maybe?

I can't wait until we have actual games, and the window is shut.

This article about Yedlin says if he is sold to Europe and then loaned back to MLS it needs to be done ASAP: http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/mls-usmnt/2014/8/6/5975503/deandre-yedlin-transfer-rumours-loan-sounders-mls-spurs-roma

But if anyone is going to buy Yedlin and loan him back to MLS, it needs to at least be close to completed today. Per MLS rules, any club who buys a player from outside the league or takes a player on loan from outside the league has to request the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) by today.

The transfer window for most of the world isn't for four more weeks, but to register players from outside the league in MLS, the request has to be in today. That means Yedlin's returning to the Sounders on loan has to be sorted, or just about, by today. If not, he will either stay with the Sounders until the end of the season at least, or if he's sold later this month, he's gone for good.

Is Pouch going to use more than two wingers at a time? If not, I do not understand the Depay rumor. Or the Jay Rodriguez one.

The Schneiderlin one sorta makes sense but who's going out? Or is the idea to carry 50 players just in case Spurs need to field a rec league team on Fridays or something?

From what I read Depay wouldn't be expected to be a 90 minute player or even a full-time starter, but more of a supersub this season as Pouch develops him.

This is always the silly season for Tottenham.

More Yedlin talk: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2719489/DeAndre-Yedlin-close-Tottenham-Hotspur-switch-2-75m-deal-US-World-Cup-star.html

Although Kasey Keller says "Be careful".

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Kasey Keller, now 44, warned Yedlin against against a move to White Hart Lane especially if he is only cover for Kyle Walker.

‘I just want to see young American players play regularly, week in and week out. If that’s at Tottenham, great. But if it’s not, then it’s not the right move. It’s hard to develop if you don’t play.

‘I’m not sure DeAndre would even qualify for a work permit. He’s never started a game for the national team, [England] is a tough place to get a work permit.
‘My guess would be that if Tottenham is in the race, it would be to sign DeAndre and loan him out somewhere.’

Yedlin doesn't make any sense for Spurs, except, as Keller points out, as maybe a long-term investment/loan-out type.  His main attribute is pace, but Spurs already have Kyle Walker, and that's his best (only?) attribute as well.  If Spurs are going to replace Walker, they should do it with someone who has better defensive positioning and/or is more comfortable on the ball.  Yedlin's not that guy, at least not yet.

Yedlin has apparently signed a "pre-contract" with Spurs. Will stay in Seattle until end of season.

I've been watching this Schalke game, and Sandro has looked about 3 steps too slow, and 1 step too awful.

I really hope he's in form if we don't get Schneiderlin because Poch's system is going to collapse without someone like him.

@TaylorTwellman DeAndre Yedlin transfer Tottenham is done and finalized at $4 million. He will remain with Seattle for 2014 at least. #Sounders

Yay. Not perfect, but about as good a fit for the player as possible. The 4271 year old goalie is there to help him transition to England, learn the club, and be an international Yoda. The incumbent RB is young, good and needed by his country but he's also a bit of a hothead and every player needs an injury cover/understudy. The coach plays an attractive, possession-based style and has shown he can work young players into his rotations. The club is good and hungry. He has a couple guys who can challenge him in a footrace to keep him training hard.

Now, the next tweet says he'll remain with Sounders and be joining "ahead of the 2015/16 season".

He has to be going to Europe when MLS ends right? That has to be just bad sentence structure or something.

Has anyone heard of a 16 year old academy defender named Cameron Carter-Vickers?  He was just called up out of the blue to the US U18 national team.  Over on BigSoccer they've dug up an incredible number of obscure American academy players from all over the world, but nobody had heard of this guy before and his American connection is unknown.

The only thing I know about him is that he's in the Academy, and is a CB prospect.

More on Yedlin: http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2014/08/13/deandre-yedlin-tottenham

“I think [Tottenham] would like to assess where things are with their club [in January] and the potential work permit issues with DeAndre, and assess how he’s been doing with us and whether it’s the right time to fit him into their squad,” Hanauer said. “Or whether they make the decision at that time to let him stay with us for another period of time until the summer window a year from now.”

Players from outside the EU must have participated in 75 percent of their national team’s competitive matches during the previous two years in order to receive a UK work permit. Yedlin doesn’t qualify, meaning Spurs will either loan him to another European club or file an appeal.

Any idea if this is the same kid:  http://www.thepowerof10.info/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=185587

It's track and field info and there some U13 stuff from 2010, which seems like it would fit.

There's this:

Cameron Carter Vickers  centre back

A schoolboy who if he asked you for you dinner money you would hand it over.  He is probably six foot plus and almost as wide. Much like Maghoma the beginning of the season he was learning his trade but did he progress. Very quick on the ground and decent with the ball at his feet the season he became a lynch pin for the team dominating centre forwards on the whole. He has still got a bit to learn but has so much potential

Carter-Vickers he is big lump but  more in the mode of Paul Stewart than Gazza. Another schoolboy who last season developed really quickly a real tidy centre back with the physical power to match. He still has a bit to learn but given his rate of development last year there is lot to be excited about  with him

Appears to have grown up in the UK. No idea yet of his US ties.

My fuckface friend is getting married at 11am.

So today, there is a non-zero chance that I will look just like Sam Allardyce depending on the result.

For those of you not watching, handball in the box for a red for Naughton. Wasn't really intentional, but he had his hands up in the air and blocked a pretty clear scoring chance.

Pretty boring game otherwise. Kaboul is playing like garbage. Lamela looks pretty good, mostly

That was a hell of a match to watch in terms of roller coaster emotions, if not quality of play. I have not watched a full 10 v 10 since USMNT Vs Italy in 2006.

1. Shocked that Kaboul wore the armband rather than Lloris.
2. And Kaboul looked horrible
3. I am just a sucker for Townsend's thing. I know he will never score with all of his stupid shots, but I really like how he puts a defense on it's heels
4. This team collapsed after every red last year, good to see them fight this time
5. So, with Kane being the choice, we have to assume Soldado is gone, right?
6. Even before the goal I thought Dier looked great. Do they need Musaccio or some other center back, or can they just keep two of Dawson/Kaboul/Vlad behind Dier & Vertongen?
