Great challenge.  It's either gonna be a first down or maybe an inch short, but that's the kind of gutsy call you need against Denver.

No, they only overturn if it's a first. Otherwise, the ball is put back where it is.

Yes, it's stupid.

It's kind of gutsy but it seemed obvious, I'm more shocked that the sideline ref missed the spot by a whole yard

So if they move the spot and they are still short of a 1st down, does Seattle lose the challenge?
No

Edit: apparently I'm wrong. Why aren't they correct in the challenge side the spot was wrong?

A Maserati commercial??

And the Refs really F'd that spot up.

edit: is that new? The spot moved, but because it wasn't a first down, SEA loses the challenge?? I mean they won didn't they? The ball moved 2.5 feet.

For some reason this year they stopped moving the ball then re-measuring, instead just saying after replay if it made it or not.  Pretty stupid if you ask me.

So wait... Carroll was right that they fucked up the spot, yet he still loses a TO? Horseshit rule.

I don't know how they lose the challenge. Why can't the challenge simply be, Look, I think he got closer than that, it was a bad spot? And then it turns out that yes, the spot was bad and thus the challenge was correct.

It wouldn't be a game in the NFL in 2013 without a big obvious blown call.

They shouldn't lose the challenge -- the challenge was the spot, not the first down itself.  Does that mean they didn't even move the ball an inch forward?
