Last year's Super Bowl represented the new NFL - high-flying, Madden-style offenses that put up pinball-type numbers. The Patriots put up 633 total yards...and lost one of the most electric games in SB history. The Patriots were even lauded in defeat.
This year's Super Bowl represented an old-school, throwback NFL rock fight. Defense. Power running. Pressuring the hell out of the QB. Tough, physical secondary play. Field position game where punting actually *mattered*. The Patriots scored 13 points...and won one of the most "boring" and "ugly" games in SB history. The Patriots are, in many quarters, being piled on even in victory.
Now tell me what franchise, or franchise's fan base, would rather "lose pretty" than "win ugly".
There. Isn't. A. Single. One.
I'll take a 13-3 rock fight win over a 41-33 pinball loss any day of the week, and so would everyone else here, and in every other NFL fan base.
The haters can go suck it.
