No, no it doesn't. They're still better off letting Gabbert or even Henne play to see what they may have for next year. Tebow is not an NFL starting QB. The whole thing with this rally and campaign is weird and creepy. They even tried to get a petition signed to have Obama force Jax to sign him. This isn't about winning football games. It's about Tebow's cult following (and I mean that literally and figuratively).
As radsoxfan says, if JAX doesn't already know what it has in Gabbert and Henne, 14 more games aren't going to help them.
You literally need to be brain damaged to think Gabbert or Henne is on the Jags roster at the end of this season. The Jags have a new GM, new HC, the 2nd worst roster talent in the NFL, and just lost to the least talented roster in the NFL. Their best player, MJD, is coming off an injury, is nearing 30 and has an expiring contract. They lost to a 2-14 team in 2012 by a score of 28-2. TWO.
Jacksonville also has 7 home games this season and next season (they play in London as the "home" team the next two seasons). They have had to cover over the 10,000 upper deck seats of their stadium and subtract those seats from total capacity to get to 50K since 2005. They often experience home game blackouts (7 of 8 in one recent season). Their new owner just bought a London-based soccer team and stadium. See where this is going?
Tebow is more of a starting NFL QB than Blaine Gabbert. Tebow has started 16 NFL games, going 9-7 as a starter and 1-1 in the playoffs. He threw or ran for a total of 29 TD and turned the ball over 15 times. Blaine Gabbert has started 26 games going 5-19 as a starter, thrown or run for 21 TDs and turned the ball over 21 times. Needless to say, Gabbert has not appeared in the playoffs. Blaine Gabbert has proven, beyond a reasonable doubt, he is not an NFL starting QB. Like I said, you need to be brain damaged to think otherwise.
When you consider attendance problems, bad roster talent, a disaffected fan base andthe proven failure of Gabbert.... there's a RATIONAL reason for Jaguars fans to want Tebow over Gabbert (or Henne).
Some of the people who champion Tebow are certifiably insane and irrational. But they have nothing to do with Tebow's ability (or lack thereof) to play QB nor do they have much of anything to do with why the Jaguars would (or should) consider signing Tebow. Frankly, this site has done a pretty good job of ignoring the truly fanatical
Tebow Zealotry - except when it gets brought up so someone who plays whack-a-mole with it. Discuss the
Tebow Zealotry and crap on his following all you'd like - this forum has resoundingly found that to be boring and annoying, but do what you gotta do.
