After Jackson opted against taking the fight, the UFC was desperate. “This whole thing just sort of played out. It literally played out beside the Octagon right before Bader and Jones walked out,” said UFC President Dana White. White also stated, "Right before Jones and [Ryan] Bader came out, him and his team accepted the fight.” MMAbleachereport

With Rampage recently fighting in Nov., He may have been too out of shape to fight in just 6 weeks.

Thiago Silvas drug tests from UFC 125 came back positive (defeated Brandon Vera) so theres a very strong possibility of Rashad Evans/Rampage 2 in May. Silva was slated to fight Rampage at UFC 130.

After the knockout win over Dan Hardy,Carlos Condit was booked to fight Chris "Lights Out" Lytle at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia. MMAJunkie confirmed that Condit has been forced to withdraw from the February 27th card due to injury.

THIS SUCKS!

Edit- Knee injury

Guess who said this:

Here's a little something for you "pocket protector/number cruncher" types: I hit **** with more unanswered, undefended strikes than any fighter has landed on an opponent in the history of combat sports. Go count 'em up, Poindexters.

I struck him more times than Quasimodo struck the church bell at Notre Dame. I hit him so many times that I stopped fighting because my fists bouncing off his melon were ringing so loudly that it sounded like a bell, and I thought that the round, and the fight, were over. Actually, that's not true--I actually stopped out of mercy and boredom.

God knows, if he hit me with a TENTH of the undefended shots I hit him with, the ref would have pulled him off me faster than a meth-head pulls the foil off a dozen shoplifted Dristan tablets. I hit him enough to have the fight stopped FIVE TIMES, in FIVE separate rounds.

Therefore, I consider myself 5-1 against him, even allowing for his tainted triangle which only came after I thought the fight was over, and I had already turned the side of his head into a bowl of porridge with my fists.

Real shame about condit. That had fight of the year written all over it. And chael is an idiot, I like him, but his schtick is wearing thin.

I like Gus Johnson. A lot. But just looking at his last two interviews, Rogan does a much better job in the ring.

For the first time in his professional career, Fedor has a losing streak going. Got his ass kicked in round two, and his right eye was beaten shut. Ref waved off the fight before Round 3 began. The Chin moves on.

I DVR Showtime most of the time to fast forward the in between fluff. Rogan and partner are worlds above.IMO
I didn't really understand Gus's role the other night. Is he part play-by-play, part analyst? If so that usually doesn't work. they have a three man booth with two play-by-play guys.

It's normally better to have interviews by a straight-up analyst who knows the sport better.

My guess is that they have an experienced Mauro Ranallo (who annoys the hell out of me) and, they feel he has enough experience from his Pride and Elite XC days to do Color Commentating also. Or Gus was a temporary replacement for Pat Miletich.

Like some of you said, when Fedor lost, it made me sad. I felt terrible for him. He was standing there with his eye completely shut and he wanted to go on but couldn't. It was a sad ending but I think for pride purposes, he will give it one more go.

Also people brought up some interesting points, has/did Fedor become content following his great stretch of success?

I truly believe he's lost a step....a very small step. It also didn't help that he fought a guy with probably 55 lbs. on him at fight time. It really made me think that a cruiserweight devision may not be the worst idea out there. I'm bias though being a Fedor fanboy.

Fedor hit the Giant with some good shots but, Silva has a jaw the size of my waist.

Just some strange post fight Fedor news from Bleachereport.com

A few days after Fedor Emelianenko suffered the third loss of his career, at the hands of Antonio Silva, some interesting theories have emerged as to why that loss occurred. The first revolves around a missing priest, while the second focuses on "forbidden psychological warfare."

The first theory was posited by "Suga" Rashad Evans on Pro MMA Radio, "I have someone close to the situation who was working with Bigfoot,” said Evans. “They said that Fedor was all upset because his priest didn’t come in. You know, he always has a priest for every one of his fights, and the priest didn’t come in or came in late, and it really messed him up mentally.

"When he came out, he seemed to be showing more emotion than he normally does. Normally he has a straight face, but he looked like he was mad, not like the typical Fedor we see.”

While Evans' claim seems questionable at best, it has nothing on the other theory behind Fedor's loss.

“We believe that forbidden psychological technology was used. It seems to us that not everything was right, and that certain technologies were used. Not ones that could be seen by the naked eye but psychological technologies that worked on both fighters at a distance,” Fedor's trainer Vladimir Voronov told LifeSports.ru.

“That is why during the fight Fedor was just not like himself. It seemed very strange behaviour from Fedor. He stepped into the ring and did everything exactly the opposite of what we practiced before the fight. We were all shocked! Fedor had never previously done such a thing."

The article also states that specialists from "Russia's largest schools of hypnosis" have confirmed this theory: "If a well-trained specialist is in the area of visual contact with Emelianenko, then he could convince him of anything and have any effect. If the hypnotist was set up and sat at a distance where he could meet eyes, he could make hypnotic influence without any big problems.”

Fedor, who suffered his second consecutive loss in the bout, has not made any comment as to either of these theories.

Anybody see BJ at the weigh ins? I didn't notice it until I read it elsewhere, but BJ was walking very gingerly. His right leg wasn't moving correctly, and he was wearing jeans (partly because he was well under weight). Not sure if this is an actual injury, an excuse, or he's just messing with Fitch.

Edit: Just saw a video with Penn from 2/23, and he was walking fine. Maybe it's nothing.

Bisping couldn't knock out a child. That has to be the worst finish I have ever seen. And he is right up there with Koscheck in his doucheness.

I hope Anderson murders him.

Oh man, BJ Penn was an asswhooping away from retiring. You could tell it in his voice.

Watching Penn try to get the RNC and Fitch defending it was masterful but overall the fight was pretty boring. I hope it doesn't happen again.

And you can tell Fitch is really chapped about not getting another title shot. He referenced all his UFC winzzz.

I actually enjoy watching Fitch fight too. I had him going against Alves.

I think it's that I didn't expect Penn to come out and try to Couture Fitch. I was fucking shocked when the bell rung and Penn shot a takedown that turned into some wall wrestling.

Dana said he was going to discipline Bisping for the spitting incident. Vitor wants a piece of him in May. Link

That sucks. If Bisping can find awayo to not get knocked the fuck out by Vitor and actually win then that would put him in clear contention for the belt. Wait a minute... that sounds like a great idea.

The only thing better than watching Bisping getting KTFO by Vitor would be watching Silva toy with him.

Bisping and Sonnen. The build up for that fight alone would provide more of a payoff than watching Silva or Vitor obliterate him. And it's not likely that it could get any better or more satiflying than Henderson finishing Bisping Motal Kombat style. This would be UFC equivalent of Hacksaw Jim Duggan facing Lord Stephen Regal. I would love every second of it.

Apparently SF will still operate just under Zuffa. Sorta like what they had with WEC. It's just a matter of time before Zuffa resolves SF and takes their best fighters though.

I was wondering what Fedor would do. He's claimed that the UFC doesn't treat fighters like people, and according to Dana, money wasn't the reason he signed with SF last time. I didn't think he was going to follow through with his retirement claims after his second loss in a row, but will he actually retire now?

Theres a lot of talk of Fedor going up against Dan Henderson (catch weight) but....that was before Strikeforce was bought out.

Also, Fedor traditionally refuses to fight on cards that are not co-promoted by M-1, and White traditionally refuses to co-promote UFC cards. I'm pessimistic of ever seeing any of the dream fights with Fedor that the merger made possible.

Unless M1 backs down, we've probably seen the last of Fedor in SF. Zuffa can tell Fedor/M1 to take a hike because he isn't important to them like he was to SF before this.

I'm not that excited about this, because I assume that Zuffa is just going to merge SF and the UFC when it's appropriate. Oh well. The people who really have to worry right now are women fighters, Dana has repeatedly stated his lack of interest in women's MMA.

Oh and Shogun is going to detail the Jon Jones hype train. Jones has never faced any one with the level of striking that Shogun had. Jones is going to get wrecked.

I'll take a bit of that action. Jones is the real deal. You're right that he's never been taken to the limit, but I thought the Brandon Vera fight at least showed his chin isn't glass. Rua may well take him out, but it's going to be a close fight.

I dont think so. Again, Jones greco wrestling is frightening but his stand up is that of a 10 year old just flailing his arms around hoping to hit something. I just keep picturing Shogun low kicking, chopping away at that tree, until Jones is sapped of his youth and aglilty.

A loss wouldn't be the worsed thing for Jones. He's still just a baby in the sport. Sho-gun is at his peak in my opinion and Jones is miles away from his.

edit- I'm still taking Jones
