"(About UFC buying Strikeforce) Honestly, I don't understand this whole thing. I'm way too busy training. It's hard for me to understand what's going on. But I knew there was a reason why I never strapped that belt around my waist. Whatever, champion, whatever. (Paul Daley) can have the belt. I'm fighting for money."
"I don't feel like a champion right now that the UFC bought this organization. I don't understand all that. I thought we were competing with the UFC. I thought my belt was potentially just as important as the UFC belt and we had the best fighters here (in Strikeforce); more technical martial artists and stand-up fighters."
"But now this is all about going to the UFC so I don't care about the Strikeforce belt. There was a reason why I never put that shit on anyways."

MMAJunkie.com reported today that former UFC middleweight contender Nate "The Great" Marquardt will be making his welterweight debut against super-sized welterweight fighter Anthony "Rumble" Johnson.
The two will be doing battle on June 26 for UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Shit, Rashad Evans is jumping for joy over this. Theres no doubt that he doesn't want to fight JJ. It may be mutual.Bones is pulling out of the fight with Rashad to have a "longstanding issue with his hand addressed." Apparently, the injury has no effect on his striking or grappling, but it's been lingering for a while, and he wants to get it taken care of. I'm sure Rashad Evans will take the high road when discussing this with the press. Phil Davis will replace him. Link
Evans just recieved a stay of execution. If he didn't realize the only way he was going to beat Machida was by taking him down and holding him there, there is no way he was going to fight smart against Jones. Evans was going to get broken.Shit, Rashad Evans is jumping for joy over this. Theres no doubt that he doesn't want to fight JJ. It may be mutual.
Does anyone else here believe the GSP/Shields fight will be a mildly boring fight? I hope I'm wrong but I think it's going to be a total ground battle.
I don't think Sheilds will be able to hang with GSP for 5 rounds. He was holding on for dear life in the third round against Kampmann. GSP is a machine and the combination of the conditioning gap and the fact that he has little to threaten GSP with will crush Sheild's will and end the fight early. I agree with basically everything else you said, especially about the "what now" phase. I think GSP vs. Silva hype is where things will head.I'd be surprised if its a ground battle. My guess is GSP picks Shields apart on his feet and Shields walks away looking like Koscheck and Fitch. Shields has shown he can take a shot, if you can survive Hendo's right hand, you can survive just about anything. But I can't see where he has a significant advantage, or something that he can exploit in GSP's game. GSP wins convincingly and the conversation of "what now?" begins, again.
He's meeting with Dana this week to, I assume, discuss this as well as his situation as the SF champion. Diaz said he wants to go into professional boxing. Is there any chance Dana White has GSP fight Nick Diaz? if not then there's nothing left for him at 170
He's been interested in boxing for a while, but is Diaz trying to force Dana White's hand here?Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz and former IBF super-middleweight champion Jeff Lacy have agreements in place to box this fall, representatives for both fighters confirmed Friday.
According to a release issued by promoter Don Chargin, Lacy officially signed on to the bout Friday morning. Diaz's manager, Cesar Gracie, told ESPN.com that the 27-year-old mixed martial artist is "tentatively" set to fight Lacy and has signed papers to that effect.
Unless Zuffa offers UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre a fight during same time period, Diaz, who ESPN.com currently ranks as the No. 3 welterweight in MMA, will challenge Lacy.
"Nick's [MMA] contract takes precedence," Gracie said. "That's why we're not out there telling everyone what we're going to do. We're trying to work together with the UFC and not against them. And we're trying to do things the right way."
Did you (or anyone for that matter) see their last fight? Who was winning when the upkick landed?Okami certainly has the tools to do finish what Chael started. Should be somewhat interesting.
Yea, the Okami Silva fight. The fight that happened five years ago?
Okami has the best wrestling at 185 now that Chael is gone. Mark Munoz, the guy that gets Anderson's wrestling ready, could not do diddly to Okami when they fought.
Edit: Found a linkLesnar has diverticulitis again
Dana: Brock has done a bumper-to-bumper of tests ... needs to decide whether he will have surgery. His June 11 bout against JDS is off.
JDS vs. Shane Carwin now headlines UFC 131.
Brock: It's not as serious as last time, it just didn't allow me to train like I needed to train for a No. 1 contender's bout.
Brock: I'm not retiring. This isn't the end of my fight career. I just got to find the right solution to fix this problem.
That sucks. This shit is career and life threatening. I was looking forward to seeing if he made any improvements in his stand up defense.Brock Lesnar is out of his fight with JDS. JDS will now fight Shane Carwin for the number one contender spot.
@arielhelwani
Big blow for the heavyweight division with Cain already out. 2 of the top 4 heavyweights in the UFC are out of action.
He's ducking Rashad and coming across as a gigantic douche in the process. I guess Sugar must have really had his way with Jones in training sessions."People look at 'Bones' Jones as being like their favorite Power Ranger," Jones told ESPN1100 in Las Vegas. "And their Power Ranger needs to be on because it's Wednesday night. I think people forget that my name is Jonathan Dwight and I'm very human, and I need to make decisions and choices. Sometimes people aren't going to going to get their Power Rangers show when they want it and how they want it."
I wonder how soon they can start. It passed 42 to 18!!!!! FINALLY!!! NY!!!!
While Monday’s lopsided response was much more favorable than last year’s 32-26 vote, just like in June of 2010, the bill now gets passed along to the New York State Assembly for another imperative ballot. Apparently, nobody walked UFC president Dana White through the rules and regulations of getting MMA legalized in the country’s largest market.
“It passed 42 to 18!!!!! FINALLY!!! NY!!!!,” White tweeted.” Thank you all!!!!”
Last June when MMA was in this exact same position, the Big Apple proved to be an even bigger pain. The UFC’s hopes of displaying an Octagon inside the historic Madison Square Garden took a major hit when the Assembly stripped approval for MMA from their annual budget.
Less than a month after a boxing promoter announced an agreement was in place for a match pitting Diaz against IBF super middleweight former champion Jeff Lacy, the same promoter said Diaz would remain in mixed martial arts.
"Nick is a good kid and a very exciting fighter," fight promoter Don Chargin said in a prepared statement. "Right now, he has an opportunity of a lifetime as it pertains to his MMA career. While I don't doubt that Nick and his team were serious about taking the big step into boxing, it only makes sense for him to finish what he started and see how far he can go in MMA before he does anything in boxing."
Diaz (25-7), the current Strikeforce welterweight champion, met with UFC officials last week in Las Vegas to discuss his options. The 27-year-old's camp had previously said he wouldn't try boxing if a fight with UFC champion Georges St. Pierre (22-2) could be made in the same time frame.
Although it's been speculated the UFC could announce a St. Pierre-Diaz fight within the week -- possibly to be held by the end of the year in Montreal -- president Dana White told ESPN.com Monday negotiations are still ongoing and nothing is imminent.
