Josh Allen almost definitely won't be playing at 40 considering all of the abuse he takes on the field every game.

And Brady was passing against the #2 passing defense and Allen the #24, although not having White certainly lowers Buffalo

As noted many times, whoever TB12 has doing his social media, they are amazing

Honestly, he looks as spry (if not
Moreso) as when he juked Urlacher ( the same Urlacher that is 1 year younger than TB12, drafted the same year, and retired 9 fucking years ago).
There was also a play late in the game where he somehow avoided a sack with the whole pocket collapsing. His agility has really improved from the earlier version of him. He clearly works on it.

Wickersham's book makes a strong case that Brady is so determined to play forever and so uninterested in life without football that he keeps relentlessly pursuing greatness in a way others haven't or couldn't.

Add to that mindset the fact that he seems to have an extremely stable home life, a willingness to try whatever Guerrero comes up with to preserve his body, and a constant pursuit of coaches who can help him, and it becomes a little less surprising that he is where he is.

Also, both Wickersham's book and The Dynasty make the fact that he played through the thumb injury during the AFC Championship seem like something of a miracle. He appears to have the pain tolerance of an elephant.

Dude is 44 and current leads the league in passing yards and TDs. Most sports books have him as the favorite to win MVP. At 44. It’s simply absurd what he’s doing.

I mean we all saw athletes like Bartolo Colon play into their forties but that guy could both look his age and compete in the sport. This isn't that. Absurd is right. It might be beyond absurd given how great he still is at this point.

Exactly. It is most certainly one of the most surprising things in all of sports, in fact.

"it becomes a little less surprising that he is where he is" No, it does not. Plenty of players want to preserve their body and keep playing. None of them in the history of sports have done it in quite this way.

I keep coming back to this SI article from 2009, when Brady was coming back from his ACL injury. Some of the quotes are pretty telling:

https://vault.si.com/vault/2009/06/01/ive-done-everything-i-could-to-push-myself-sometimes-too-hard-right-now-im-doing-everything-theres-nothing-i-cant-do

"With his voice rising as he leaned forward in his chair, Brady said that playing 10 more seasons "is a big goal of mine, a very big goal. I want to play until I'm 41. And if I get to that point and still feel good, I'll keep playing. I mean, what the hell else am I going to do? I don't like anything else. People say, 'What will you do if you don't play football?' Why would I even think of doing anything else? What would I do instead of run out in front of 80,000 people and command 52 guys and be around guys I consider brothers and be one of the real gladiators? Why would I ever want to do anything else? It's so hard to think of anything that would match what I do: Fly to the moon? Jump out of planes? Bungee-jump off cliffs? None of that s--- matters to me. I want to play this game I love, be with my wife and son, and enjoy life."

Doesn't seem like much has changed.

Maybe he’s there already, but in my mind another win and he is indisputably the greatest athlete in American team sports history. Not Ruth or Mays, not Gretzky or Orr, not Jordan or Russell. Brady. It’s unique.

He's in the conversation already, no doubt. It's the longevity coupled with the high quality play. Brady isn't out there at 44 surviving and not embarrassing himself, he leads the NFL in yards and TDs. It's comical.

If Tom Brady wins the MVP in the NFL at 44 years of age after having two separate hall of fame careers with the Patriots, it just becomes not of this world.

I've seen some breakdowns that this could actually become his 4th HoF career: 2001-2006; 2007-2013; 2014-2019; and now with the Bucs, if he plays another 2-3 years.

Looks like Tom is branching out beyond the TB12 line and starting NLI with college athletes under the "Brady" brand. Seems like Tom is going for the full MJ approach....

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback announced on social media that he's partnering with Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara; Jackson State quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of Tigers head coach Deion Sanders; Georgia wide receiver George Pickens and Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall, among nine total athletes who signed.

Tonight's game might be catastrophic for the Bucs' SB chances if the injuries to Godwin, Evans and Fournette are significant.

the last time Brady was shutout was 12/10/2006 against the Nick Saban dolphins.
View: https://twitter.com/SeanGrandePBP/status/1472783402097065990
Tom Brady shut out for the 1st time since December 10, 2006 when.. ...Randy Moss was a Raider. LaDainian Tomlinson the MVP. Phil Kessel and Glen Murray were Bruins. The Sox signed Dice-K. Kevin Garnett was a Timberwolf. Ime Udoka was a Trailblazer. Jayson Tatum was in 3rd grade.
Given how long Brady’s NFL career has gone it’s still absolutely shocking that it didn’t happen again until this year.

Evans and Fournette look like they have hamstring injuries so they could rest for almost a month, if needed. Godwin is the big one since he’s Brady’s go to guy. If he’s out, they’re in big trouble. He was jogging a bit so perhaps he dodged a bullet but we’ll surely know more soon.

You say that but I finished with the most points and best record *by far*. It was a strategy based on health, but considering my top two picks (McCaffrey and AJ Brown) also went down, I'd say it worked out pretty goddamn well. 5 of my top 6 picks are hurt right now (Logan Thomas was my sixth round pick) and yet here we are.

Godwin is done for the year per Schefter. Brutal. ACL tear.
That sucks big time. One thing though: they were incredibly healthy last year, which is one big reason why they won it all. Usually you don't get that lucky with injuries two years in a row in the NFL. We'll see how this star-studded team manages with these injuries.

And my fantasy team. I have all three, plus Brady and Gronk.

Damn - hate all injuries but the timing of this couldn’t be worse given his FA status and the injury being late in the season. Will cost him millions. No idea what TB offered for a long-term deal but this is always the risk of playing under the franchise tag.

He will come back fine and get paid tens of millions of dollars, as well. ACL tears are definitely a process to rehab from, but they are much more reliable today in terms of coming back to full strength and decently quick, too. Rex Burkhead tore his ACL on November 22nd last year in a REALLY ugly looking injury. He was ready to go at the beginning of the season.

But it does suck. Godwin was really putting up numbers this year and now he's got to go through the rehab process, which is certainly not fun.

"No longer a Buc" is good wording. Looks like the feeling was mutual. AB might have quit before getting fired.

Was there something about an incentive bonus that he wasn’t going to reach and so he was pissed about playing time? I saw speculation about that online but no idea If it’s accurate.

Interesting that Tampa rallied for 18 unanswered points and the victory after that point. Feel free to let the door hit your ass on the way out, AB.

On topic, Brady wins again when hoisting the ball 50 times in a game. His record all time in such games is now 22-10, including playoffs.

Writing to say - absolute vintage Brady on that last drive. If anyone didn’t see it, try and find it.
had the ball on his own 7, 2 mins to play, need a touchdown and without his usual weapons or any timeouts. I don‘t think he spiked the ball once. Completely in control as the clock was ticking, and caps it with the game winning throw. I miss watching that...

If we’re guessing real things and not that he was told he couldn’t set up a raw bar on the sidelines staffed with monkeys, my guess is literally the dumbest shit imaginable like he got pulled from a personnel package and couldn’t handle it.
In fairness, his request for a raw bar staffed with monkeys was also turned down. So he was understandably on edge.

Arians benched him at some point prior to the outburst. I don’t know if it’s been reported on yet why AB got benched mid game, but that’s what preceded the strip show.
