I'm at a bar and saw something scroll across the bottom of espn. Anderson tested positive for something on January 9. I didn't get the name of the substance.

It's an out of competition drug test under the UFC's new drug testing policy. The UFC new about the results before the fight.

Edit- and they neglected to say anything until now

What? I thought the reason they didn't pull Jones was that coke wasn't a performance enhancer. If they really think roids make a distance, they're endangering their fighters by not stopping these fights.

I agree, Diaz has an honest gripe with this imo.  It has been a terrible start to the new year for Dana, Lorenzo and comp. Jones Coked out, Weidman hurt, Vitor turning down interim title fights, now the GOAT pops...no surprise with Nicks test.

Do you have a source on this?

Meltzer pretty clearly explained UFC didn't have access to this info. Nor did the NSAC who absolutely would've pulled the fight if they knew.

Anything else is conspiracy theory

Sure, Faber and Edgar are past their primes, but they are entertaining as heck to watch. Pretty pumped.

He's done. He didnt sound like he wanted to fight again BEFORE all this shit came out. Now? Forget it.

Plus if he's on anti depressants and anti anxiety meds, his mental health must be super shot. He needs to step away and get himself together. He's 40, hes the greatest of all time, the rides over.

This weekend is going to be a pretty interesting test case.  Dana has been calling Rousey the UFC's biggest star, but she's headlining an absolutely brutal PPV card.  We'll see where the numbers come in, but 182 (Jones/Cormier) did about 800k buys and 183 (Silva/Diaz) did about 650k. This one on paper would be lucky to crack 400k, but lets see if Ronda moves the needle

Bellator is having a meet and greet at Dave and Busters in Manchester, CT tomorrow night at 7 PM. If I still lived in the area, this would be a slam dunk event to attend. Photos and autographs are free. Fedor, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz and Kimbo Slice are all being advertised as attending.

Any chance Rousey loses?

Theres always the chance someone gets flash KO'd in MMA but if Cat wins a single fuckin round I'll be stunned
Agreed, although I think Ronda might be overconfident in her standup game and you don't want to stand with Cat.  Cat's best chance is to catch Ronda in a Thai Plum and rock her with a knee.  Still, this should be a walk for Rousey.

About the same chance that a 51 year old Ken Shamrock comes out and manages to not completely embarrass himself (again) in Bellator's attempt to make Kimbo look like a relevant fighter.

I just picked up some good tickets to tonight's event at a bargain price. I've never been to one of these; anything I should know?

Don't make eye contact with anyone in the stands. Sight lines are pretty bad, but hopefully you got good seats.

I haven't seen a UFC in a long time but with names like Tibau and Koscheck it's like I never stopped watching!

So who threaten to break Cat's legs if she didn't throw the fight? Man.

Women's MMA is still at the level at when Royce Gracie pretty much schooled all the other fighting arts in the early days of the UFC. Ronda has one truly elite skill and nobody else in her fight cohort knows how to do anything about it.

She basically has to fight Cyborg at this point.

At 135. She shouldn't have to move for anyone.

And there is no way, with pre / post fight blood and urine  testing, like they had for this fight, Cyborg makes 135. It aint gonna happen.

That was a good time, seats were ideal, but yeah, the main event was kind of a letdown. What did people think about the Holm decision? Obviously a little biased because I took a flyer on Rocky at 4:1, but I thought the bird card was crazy.

Even if the PPV #'s end up being decent for this, you almost have to think this fight actually hurt the Ronda's chances of headlining another one by herself. Granted i'm just a scrub who snags the stream these days, but if i was paying the $50 on that i probably wouldn't be again. Tonight more or less highlighted what a relative joke her fights are becoming. Maybe a title fight with Cyborg generates some buzz at this point...but like Gunfighter stated that's not likely to happen.

I rather enjoyed finally getting a chance to watch that Newton vs McGeary fight from Friday night. First round was crazy. Rough watching Newton lose his title on that one though. Can't recall ever seeing a guy have the type of reaction to winning a title decision that McGeary had. Half shocked and seemingly peeking over at Newton to see if he was going to jump him over the call.

I was most impressed with her takedown defense, although I doubt she stands much of a chance in that regard against Rousey. She also fought a disciplined fight, winning with combinations and volume. Nothing that she did showed me that she could beat Rousey though, unless she gets lucky with a head kick or something.
