Years 2 and 3 arent fake years in this deal, but it creates a very difficult decision for them with the option.

This year is a 'pay for what you get' type of year.  Roughly $400K in signing bonus, $1.3M salary, $1M bonus for weight, workout and making the active roster once, so a total of $2.7M for making the team and there is another $4.4M in incentives for playing time, games on the active roster and team defense stats.  If Vince isnt Vince, the team doesnt take a cap hit, but then next year.....

The dead money is only $800K, but now the roster bonus (4), base salary(3), weight clause (.3) and workout bonus (.2) is $7.5M  Thats $7.5M for basically making the team and it isnt impossible to take on like the Revis deal, but if he is 80% of the old Vince I dont think he is getting that option picked up.  I really wish the roster bonus was like $2M, the salary was $2M and the $3M difference was found in playing time bonuses.  I'm sure Vince balked at that, but if it was structured like that I think it would be a much easier decision for them to pick it up.  I do have to give Vince some credit there for essentially betting on himself, I just wish he didnt because I want to make sure he is around.

He is wearing that suit.

From hand-wringing about bad blood to reveling in him getting his pimp on with Brady in about a month.

Looking at Vince's body, I marvel at what an athlete he is for someone shaped like a VW Beetle. His interception returns, how he caused the Butt fumble, and when he laid out Donald Brown. I remember an anecdote from a training camp in which BB said the Pats could end practice early if Vince could catch a punt while holding another football and he did it.

It is a fair argument to say that a 32 year old that weighs ~330 pounds and has tons of milage on his knees, legs, etc..  might never be the same after a significant achillies tendon injury.  No one disagrees with that.

But based on the anecdotes above I think that if you were ever to bet on a 32 year old that weighs ~330 lbs to come back strong from a majory achillies injury, then Vince Wilfork is going to be as safe a bet as there is.  The guy is a freak.

Admittedly, I was just taking his word for it.  VW said he could throw it down on Dale and Holley a few years back.  They scoffed but he was adamant.  I'd like video proof too, but mostly because it would be a sight to behold.

Vertical leap of 26.5
32 Inch Arms

72 inches  +26.5 +  32 inches= 10.875 feet.

And the Vert is from a standing start...no run up.

So the numbers say he can dunk. (or could)

Just to be Bobby Buzzkill, you need to subtract about 6 inches from the vert or from the height...

(Hold your arms above your head...) arm length starts (or ends) at the shoulders, and reaching overhead takes about six inches or so off the total vertical calculation.  He might get his fingertips just over the rim on his best day.

Still a behemoth.

Wilfork is 6'2, right? So 74 inches is the base height (minus the subtraction for arms). No way he can dunk a basketball, though. John Stockton is about the same height.

I don't know if post Achilles Wilfork can dunk but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he could when he was in his 20s: I've seen a 6'3" 300 pound NCAA D-1 nose tackle dunk.  The best of the DTs are pretty remarkable athletes.

Movement looking good during the recovery thus far.
