Could Auburn screw this up any worse?
Yup.
Yes, yes they could.

No kidding. Incredibly stupid play.
I'm afraid you're going to have to specify on this one, because I have no idea which one of the 20 Auburn fuckups you are referring to.

I hope JMD is ok.
But seriously, an Indian Giver fumble and the center snapping the ball into his upper thigh, is what killed it for Auburn, is mind-boggling.
Thanks. I just got to the final nut-punch, due to toddler-enforced DVR procedures for mid-afternoon games. We get about 2.5 quarters of live action in before the "I am overstimulated!" tantrums start, then we re-start after he goes to bed.
Honestly, I know it's poor form to not give the opposing team more credit for a victory, but nearly every big play in this game was primarily, if not solely the fuckup of at least one Auburn player. Mississippi State just flat out beat Auburn, I can live with that. Auburn self-immolated, at home, against a mediocre Texas A&M team. They didn't just dig themselves a huge hole with safeties falling down and a complete lack of communication in coverage in the 1st half, or choke the game away in a tight situation late, or blow the game with a huge special teams miscue, they did ALL OF THOSE THINGS.
Auburn completely shit themselves on the field tonight, in every phase of the game. The offense had some reason to feel good about itself until the 4th quarter, but those were inexcusably horrible mistakes for a team playing at home that really has been in similar situations before. Getting beat is fine, but that? Ugh.
It's a good thing that 2010 and last year happened, because there is an element of not being such an ingrate about the stupendous comebacks that have come before (and even more recently) that keeps me from being too deeply disturbed by the result. I'm intellectually offended and disgusted, but not emotionally shaken like I would have been if this had happened, say, in the 2010 season.
