You understand that not everyone is as dismissive of Arizona as you are, right?

That said, I wonder how the Pats games against the Lions and Packers will impact that division
Arizona's starting QB went on IR, and their backup is looking rough. There's a good chance they are a totally different team going forward, no?

I don't think 10-6 gets you a wild card this year.

Maybe not. I don't think Detroit is all that good, but they've gotten off to such a good start, it will be difficult for them to lose 6. Five is entirely possible, with today, at NE, and at GB. Vikings could be tough if Peterson is back, too.

As for Dallas, we'll see how Romo looks. I think Philly should win 11.

I don't think GB's receivers are as good as conventional wisdom supposes. Rodgers just makes them look good.

So Sanchez is who we thought he was.

He's thrown some balls away and checked down a lot but it's hard for me to judge coverage without the full field shots. One mistake is definitely on him- It looked like made the wrong read on Matthews when he got sacked on 3rd down in the red zone. Hard to know if the rest is Sanchez or his receivers.
Yes?

just to venture a guess: the Philip Rivers MVP campaign has lost a bit of steam, hasn't it?

That Chargers game is certainly looking less ominous.

I kind of think the same -- he wasn't that great last week despite the great numbers, most of it was due to scheme and protection. Same in reverse this week -- not as bad as the numbers (and 33-6 score) might make it seem.

Now hes got the deer-in-headlights look, however, so the rest of the game may be much worse from the QB.
... And as I write that he makes a bad throw on third down (i am on DVR, at 12:25 in 3Q)

I'm still expecting/hoping that 1 or 2 out of Philly, Dallas and Detroit fall apart.
Both NFCE teams need to finish 3-3 to end up 10-6. It is certainly not likely that both will go 4-2 or better. So a 10-6 record should at least put you in a tiebreaker for the second WC, even if you assume both GB and DET win 11. (The Lions have the Bucs, the Vikings, and the Bears twice, so it's more likely than not that they'll get there.)

I'd be stunned if the Pats lost that Chargers game. They just seem like a pretty average team.

What makes you think Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson aren't good?

Fox about an hour late switching most of the country from PHI-GB to DET-ARI.

They're good like Edelman is good. None of them do anything that, say, Cecil Shorts couldn't do with the same QB and system.

I guess there is a very possible scenario where it would be best for SF if GB and Det win 11, and the Niners go to a head to head tiebreaker with Philly/Dallas.

"Sanchez had him but led him too far."
"And Sanchez throws the PIC 6."

Pretty much sums up his body of work in the NFL.

This isn't even remotely true.
Shorts is pretty good -- I'm not suggesting they are replacement level. They just aren't as good as the conventional wisdom supposes.

I thought there is no risk for the returner there after the kicking team touches it.
Unless he fumbles it? It wasn't a clean handle. I think it was a stupid play.

Maybe, but considering the starter only played about half of the games so far, they are probably a pretty similar team to what we have seen so far.
They are good defensively, the question is whether Stanton can limit turnovers.

That's a good question.  I think that even if he picks it up and runs with it down the field, the Lions wouldn't lose possession on a fumble because the Cards touched it first.

It's really weird to think the Lions are now a well-coached team. That would never happen if Jim Schwartz were still the coach.
