They would have found another wayLions blew that with the back to back TOs.
Agreed. I see no real upside here and the in-game stuff from Campbell would definitely be enough to move on.Lions 100% need to pull a Cardinals. Just admit immediately that your Coach and QB moves didn't work and move on after 1 year.
The Lions are 30th in point differential, and might move up a spot or two with this respectable loss. They are 31st or 32nd in talent — only the Jets are in the discussion.Agreed. I see no real upside here and the in-game stuff from Campbell would definitely be enough to move on.
The talent is bad and everyone knew they would be bad, but even accounting for that, they're worse than they should be.
Time for a re-boot rather than another lost year or two.
I'd move on. Now maybe he's amazing in practice, but the easiest things to judge a coach on are in-game management, player preparedness and penalties. The Lions are 30th in point differential, and might move up a spot or two with this respectable loss. I don’t watch the Lions closely enough to know how their 1st and 2nd year players are playing, but that’s what I’d be looking at in deciding whether to move on from Campbell or bring him back in 2022. I don’t think it’s a no-brainer either way.
Too many kneecaps are being eaten. Doesn't leave time for practice or discipline.I'd move on. Now maybe he's amazing in practice, but the easiest things to judge a coach on are in-game management, player preparedness and penalties.
The Lions are one of the most penalized teams... and particularly notable lead the league in delay of game penalties. Their clock management has been terrible all year, and a bunch of other decisions (including how they handled that 3rd and 32 today) have been baffling.
The Lions aren't talented, but at the same time, their coach is not helping them at all. He was a weird choice in the first place since his rep is more as a "culture/personality" guy who doesn't bring scheme advantages on either side.
Which one? There were two.... a bunch of other decisions (including how they handled that 3rd and 32 today) have been baffling.
See, that’s exactly what I mean. I’m not knowledgeable enough to evaluate Lions’ ownership and their overall effectiveness, but hiring a “culture/personality guy” to lead a rebuild feels like the right choice. If the young players are developing, I wouldn’t let some close losses and bad clock management cause me to change course. On the other hand, if the young players aren’t coming along well, then of course it’s time to cut bait.I'd move on. Jim Caldwell was the anti-Campbell. He was a decent coach who made some mistakes but got a lot more flak than he deserved because he didn't react to anything (where people love the Belichick does that), where Campbell is high energy rah rah guy who makes nothing buy mistakes. Caldwell got screwed, by the time people realized he was misjudged he had health problems that made him not interested in a HC job.Reminder:
Jim Caldwell Lions wins: 11, 7, 9, 9
Patricia: 6, 3, 4
Campbell: 0 (for now)
