But ATL-CAR is also a win or go home game, DET and GB have clinched playoff spots, right?

Probably true, so now I'm afraid of what NBC will do.

To early for that fake punt call. The gain is so not worth giving up the ball at the 19.

What's the difference if it's early or late? They saw a chance to get the first down and it should have been completed.

Yeah, from a risk reward perspective it's hard to figure. Even if it works you're 50 yards from the end zone, and if you don't make it, you're giving up an expectancy of what? Four to five points at least.

Because they are now in a 14 point hole where  the best out come was a first down at like the 35. The reward is so much less than the risk.

Nantz watching replay of Fleener being mugged: "Little bit of a pull there, but that's nothing."

Same play with Browner: "In today's NFL, that's gonna be called every time."

I think, but am not entirely sure, that the later you go in the game, the less equivalance there is between a point prevented and a point scored for purposes of win expectancy. At the beginning of the game, preventing a point will typically be equal to preventing one. If they convert that play, the expected points gained is so far below the expected points given up if they don't that the percentage of success needs to be very hight to attempt it.

Later in the game when losing, you take bigger chances to get points even if it makes it harder to prevent them if you fail. At least I think that's the case though I am hardly a WE expert.

I'm in the Super Bowl in a two QB league and I have Brady and Luck. Brady scored 12 in a poor effort. Luck is 1 for 2 with 5 yards. At least there is time. FML

They had a great year and have lots to be excited about.

Not with their cap situation, and a possible QB contract to deal with soon. This was probably their year to make a run, but that had a lot of bad injury luck and have a bad coach.

The way Randle looked that last drive I'd tell DeMarco to enjoy the rest of the day and next week off.

.

I'm with you, Ed. They have nothing to look forward to. That won't stop the early season optimism, though.

Even when the cowboys are winning Garrett is an idiot. You are up 21 your star back has a broken hand and is over 350 carries already this year and yet you decide to keep feeding him the ball.

There's something to be said for Murray getting some experience with what that hand is going to be like b/c it's something he's going to have to deal with the rest of the year.

There's that, too. I think now we'll see mostly Randle and Dunbar.

This is a completely ridiculous statement.  It's one thing to have general soreness but quite another to say a player needs experience getting hit where that player has a broken bone. He needs to sit.

Nice fight in the STL/NYG game.
OBJ had a guy finish his tackle out of bounds, he pushed back, STL guy throws a punch and then the Giants sideline swarmed.

The Rams had hit late before, on OBJ. Both were really cheap.

By all accounts he can't do any more damage to it by playing.

Haters gonna hate. I'm not sure if OBJ is a jerk, but he's gotten a massive amount of press for being awesome(because he is) and that probably annoys some players. He's having an incredible season, especially because he missed the first 4 games of the year.
