No team plays a drop zone on that situation. It makes no sense. If they beat you over the top. Fine. To drop 10 yards off means you are either situationally idiotic or losing on purpose

Whatever. Happy the lost ultimately .

Lol — you clearly have me confused with someone else. I am always wrong, but speak with certainty.
I am sincerely respectful of your many cogent and insightful comments on this board. You are truly one of the posters I seek out for informative outlooks on any variety of topics. I just think you are wrong on this based on my 40 years of officiating at the HS, collegiate and minor league pro football. Believe me, my studying the NFL rulebook and mechanics manual was harder than prepping for the LSATs. I am probably too much of an officiating apologist but I know how hard it is, how fast it is, and these folks doing it have earned their way there, are scrutinized intensely and are turned over more frequently than most folks realize. I certainly do not wish to insult @DennyDoyle'sBoil who I hold in very high regard.

That is a smart play call. Keep letting your best player get hit like a battering ram when the game is already in hand. All you have to do is kick a field goal

I will happily defer in this case, and be happy to have learned something. It’s funny because I generally do give the benefit of the doubt to refs and was, in fact, like the only guy here defending Allen last night.

So, thanks for the nice words, and I retract my ref abuse.

It's one thing to show a blitz but then flip to a swarming coverage, but Allen could see there were only 3-4 pass rushers possible and was expecting loads of pass defenders. Soft zone just made it even worse.

So, that’s either a tank on that last drive or really stupid coaching. Can’t decide.
It's consistent with how the D has been directed in previous seasons. I mentioned MattyP, but the one consistent element is BB. Does this mean that Brian Flores was bold enough to disregard what BB preferred?
