Those penalties should not offset - that facemask was very dangerous.
I think we ain’t ever seeing them try to come up with a scheme to devise a more nuanced offsetting penalty rule. I kind of can’t blame the Competition Committee, it would be a headache and it really doesn’t hurt the game. Can’t recall a proposal by a team to change that rule, either.

The Giants DB should have just lifted the smaller WR out of bounds so he couldn't land in the end zone. Since they changed the force-out rule I'm surprised more defenders don't try to do that.

Couldn’t it be that any personal foul supersedes a regular foul?

49ers are so good, after the first drive Shanahan put the training wheels back on Purdy and it didn't matter because even if every throw was 2 yards or less from the LOS, their guys just make it up on YAC

Yep. Purdy has been pretty mediocre to bad the last two weeks. I hope it’s just a lack of practice
