As a Cowboys fan, I am pleasantly shocked at how improved this team is from last year. I thought the offense would be good with the improved OL and the great skill players they have, but I was similarly convinced that the defense would be horrific and they would lose a lot of 41-38 games. Never been so happy to be wrong.
They are playing well in all phases right now, special teams included. Bailey is almost automatic, and the kick coverage was very solid today. All around great effort and execution today, and a very impressive win.
Still, I'd like to see Garrett be more aggressive sometimes. I still see them having trouble finishing games - they let Houston score twice in the last 9 minutes to force OT last week, and they gave Seattle one more chance on offense today when they should have been able to finish them off.
I know that a run is the percentage play there at the end on 3rd and 7, but just once I'd like to see Garrett try to win a game at the end instead of trying not to lose. The way the run game was going, a high percentage short pass off play action would have had a high probability of success.
The end of every close Cowboys game is the same: Cowboys get the ball with a lead, run, run, run, 3 and out, and the other team gets another chance to win. If Garrett can get more aggressive once in a while and this team can develop a killer instinct they can go far.
