The 2019 Yankees won 103 games and swept the ALDS before losing 4-2 to HOU in the ALCS (again). NY's rotation in the ALCS was Tanaka, Happ and Cole, and Tanaka again on full rest in game 4. However this three man rotation only worked until game 6 (played on 3 days rest from game 3) so NY went with Chad Green as the opener, and he gave up 3 runs in the 1st of a season-ending 6-4 loss. NY certainly could have used Stroman in that game if not sooner.
You mean Sevy, right?

He's a very good pitcher. And yet, here I am thrilled the Yankees signed him because he owns one of the worst personalities in baseball. A true living stereotype of short guy with a chip on his shoulder who never shuts up (and has a knack for saying dumb things). He was already a hot mess with the Mets and now he's doubling down in NYC with the harder team to play for. It's beautiful, and win-win for non-Yankees fans. If he implodes (probably unlikely), great, but even if he pitches well he's going to run his mouth and generally act like a jerk so he'll be fun to root against. I love the signing.
Him and. Verdugo should make the Yankees very hateable again. Which is good for baseball.

I think this probably exaggerates things. His teammates like him, he just sucks on social media. Given that he deleted his twitter posts awhile ago and has generally shut the hell up, I can guarantee the Yankees made hard eye contact when talking to him about social media presence and the ramifications if you’re a Yankee. I’ll bite my tongue but I bet he is a much less controversial Yankee than Year 1 Rodon.

I'm extremely disappointed to learn Stroman gathered the strength to shut the fuck up. Bummer. Maybe his agent had a contract year talk with him. I can't believe that guy can zip it forever though. Dude loves what he has to say too much. Tick, tock, Marcus.

Yeah, he can’t stay quiet all season, you’ll get some enjoyment out of that at the minimum.

Stroman will wear #0, after Ottavino a few years ago and Domingo German last year.

He is great defensively, which is even more important with all the groundballs he forces. He is tied for 4th in DRS by a pitcher since 2018 (so six years combined) with a +18.

Zach Greinke +28
Ranger Suarez +21
Taijuan Walker +20
Marcus Stroman +18
Max Fried +18

Not surprising. In addition to pitching, he started 83 games at shortstop and second base and also stole 25 bases at Duke.
