You mean LAD/CHW, right? 1-0 LA lead to the 9th now, Jansen time.It would be a shame if the NYY-CHW go into extras.
of course ... it's been a long nightYou mean LAD/CHW, right? 1-0 LA lead to the 9th now, Jansen time.

Teams love relievers who pile up strikeouts. K/9 avgs this year. Betances 16.9. Kahnle 15. Chapman 13.9. DRob 12.7. Green 12.3. Warren 8.8.
Yeah, how the Red Sox let our system get so empty is a joke.Absolute steal for the Yankees. 3 major leaguers for 3 mediocre prospects and the guy the'd DFA to make room for Kahnle and Robertson. It's like one of those quantity over quality deals that people deride on the main board. Of course, the Red Sox system is so barren they can't even match the nothingburger offered up by Cashman.
It isn't just the trades for Kimbrell and Sale.Yeah, how the Red Sox let our system get so empty is a joke.
With all due respect, can we keep this more focused on this trade and its direct ramifications? Thanks. It isn't just the trades for Kimbrell and Sale.
It's the unmitigated disaster of the Thornburg trade.
It's blowing a top 10 pick on Trey Ball
It's taking Alan Craig instead of a prospect package for Lackey. (Unless you think Craig was the cost of Kelly)
It's getting caught flaunting the rules and having an entire class of international signings declared free agents.
Perhaps, but neither Polo not Clarkin would have been protected in the rule 5 draft, and thus would have been Padres next yearDamn, Tito Polo is indeed the last guy. Good luck to him, he is a fun player.
Polo I think definitely would have been, he has been running wild since being promoted to AA. Clarkin I agree with, too many guys ahead of him. I've been keeping a running list for the 40 man roster this winter and will update that thread once the Yankees make their roster moves tomorrow.Perhaps, but neither Polo not Clarkin would have been protected in the rule 5 draft, and thus would have been Padres next year
They don't really but they needed to offset the salary a bit and they have a very inexperienced bullpen now so he can tutor them for a few months. He's only really clogging a roster spot until Sept. 1 and he's a FA at the end of the year. Why do the CHW want Clippard?
They didn't, but taking his contract helps the Yankees and might have helped get better prospects from NYWhy do the CHW want Clippard?
QFT. And if for whatever reason the Yankees falter next year, those contracts make it very easy for Cashman to flip those guys, either to fill a hole or load up on more prospects. Cashman continues to really annoy me.I think the bullpen pieces, with 5 years of total control left, is the part of the deal I think greatly affects this years race and the next couple years. Those are big time arms down there that can go 5 deep now. Very impressive.
Axe grinder's gonna grind. With all due respect, can we keep this more focused on this trade and its direct ramifications? Thanks.
As of this second, Headley is platooning at 1B with Cooper, but he could easily be replaced by Choi in that rule, they're expecting Bird back next spring if not this September (we'll see, not holding my breath). Next year, NY will have Torres and Andujar for 3B, so I'm sure Cashman would be happy to get out of as much of Headley's 2018 salary as he could, now or in the offseason. So what happens to Headley now? Dump him for a bag of balls? Or, tying into some of your posts in here, package him with Betances for something?
Would they dump him to the Sox and pick up most of the freight?
He's way closer and he ideally is their 3B in 2019 and beyond, unless they move Castro before then (2018: Torres at 3B, Andujar in the minors, 2019: Torres at 2B, Andujar at 3B).One observation I have is that they apparently viewed Andujar as more valuable than Rutherford.
