It was a pass play, of course it had an impact.yeah and receivers never embellish, there was no clear review of significant contact and it had zero impact on the play

At certain times in the game, absolutely that is a factorI love the concept of "penalties shouldn't be called away from the action."
We’re tied with the Jets.
Thank Buddha these teams do not have lasting power. AFCE is still Pats' to lose but boy, this poor D is hard to comprehend.Even worse, we're trailing the Bills.
Penalties should be called regardless of proximity to the actionAt certain times in the game, absolutely that is a factor
Cam had 1 second to throw. It was a pass play, of course it had an impact.
yah cause there aren't enough flags in games alreadyPenalties should be called regardless of proximity to the action
IIRC our offense routinely torched him. Just a bizarre allocation of money. My brother in law, a Bills fan, told me all off-season that he couldn't believe the Pats gave him the money they did. Said he was always a liability on defense. He was spot on.
No, H78 is a pathological ref apologist. They only showed it from behind. Impossible to know how much play acting. Ridiculous call in that situation as it was away from the play and had no impact and was with only two minutes left.
In which case there would be 60 flags per game.Penalties should be called regardless of proximity to the action
Non-blatant holding (both offensive and defensive) is generally ignored unless it occurs at the point of attack. I’m not aware of any other custom regarding non-calling of penalties. No way Gilmore had any right to expect a non-call.yah cause there aren't enough flags in games already
I’m gonna respond to your every post by saying the refs sucked today. You don’t get to drive the conversation. This is absolutely 100% correct.
So sick of the strange rationale used here from a handful of posters that insist on always blaming the zebras. If it's a penalty, it a fucking penalty.
If you want to whine about the zebras ALL THE TIME just do it on Facebook to bait some cheap likes from other people that don't really understand the game.
No they shouldn't be calling ticky tack calls with 2 min left when they haven't been doing that all game, except for the one other time that the announcers agreed was ticky tack. This is such a nonsensical post.
So the refs should have huddled after and said, "Well, Gilmore took a shot at the receiver's head again, but because Newton was sacked, we shouldn't assume that maybe they were going for a quick slant or and outside curl that was disrupted by the shot to the head."
Are you even thinking right now, or just posting to post?
Do whatever you want, man. I guarantee you'll waste more mental bandwidth writing the post than I will reading it.I’m gonna respond to your every post by saying the refs sucked today. You don’t get to drive the conversation.
Even the announcers were questioning some calls.
OPI and DPI can be called on virtually every play the way it is often interpretedNon-blatant holding (both offensive and defensive) is generally ignored unless it occurs at the point of attack. I’m not aware of any other custom regarding non-calling of penalties. No way Gilmore had any right to expect a non-call.
Dear God.No they shouldn't be calling ticky tack calls with 2 min left when they haven't been doing that all game, except for the one other time that the announcers agreed was ticky tack.
Gilmore was rated one of the worst DBs in the entire league last year. Elite talent doesn't mean anything if you play like garbage. And he's obviously a moron if he doesn't have enough game awareness to avoid getting his hands direclty into a WR's face at the most important juncture of the game.Gilmore has elite talent. He is rarely beaten physically. Bill must have thought Rex was doing something wrong and he could mold him better to Patricia's system. It's quite possible he's just a complete moron incapable of learning the system, but to me it's clear that all three DB are not playing well at all. Butler and Rowe have been here longer, not sure what their issues are, though Rowe on the inside doesn't seem like a good idea. It appears they have three outside corners.
Keep in mind two years ago SoSH thought Logan Ryan was the worst player on the team and four years ago it was Hightower.
You think anything we post is going to have .00000000000001% impact on how the team plays, hilarious.Dear God.
The refs suck! THEY HATE THE PATRIOTS!!!
Some quality posting right there, after our defense just got torched yet again and are leading the league in points allowed.
Let's blame the zebras all the way to the next Lombardi. That's the way to improve a struggling team, alright.
The first Gilmore call was beyond ticky tack. His pinky grazed the guy's facemask. At that point, I'm comfortable saying the coaching staff made the decision the risk was worth the reward, because that contact is unavoidable in press coverage. No they shouldn't be calling ticky tack calls with 2 min left when they haven't been doing that all game, except for the one other time that the announcers agreed was ticky tack.
He was rated meh by an outlet we (including you, specifically) have called so unreliable that we don't mention them by name. It's pretty well agreed upon he had a strong second half last season.Gilmore w of the worst DBs in the entire league last year. Elite talent doesn't mean anything if you play like garbage. And he's obviously a moron if he doesn't have enough game awareness to avoid getting his hands direclty into a WR's face at the most important juncture of the game.
He's a bad player doing bad things for really bad money, and his signing is a catastrophe.
The refs sucked today.Do whatever you want, man. I guarantee you'll waste more mental bandwidth writing the post than I will reading it.
Gotta disagree with this. Lots of contact off the ball gets let go, otherwise the game would be unwatchable (we're already getting close to that. The game this morning in London was brutal and officiating was a big part of it). I do agree that Gilmore should have been more careful after the first call, though.Non-blatant holding (both offensive and defensive) is generally ignored unless it occurs at the point of attack. I’m not aware of any other custom regarding non-calling of penalties. No way Gilmore had any right to expect a non-call.

I basically agree with you but you suck so much as a poster that I am reexamining my position.Dear God.

They could do that anyway and keep Gilmore and Butler if they want 2 high priced corners. If Butler got upset by them giving Gilmore big money while he plays this year for peanuts he probably gets equally upset if they give Ryan big money while he plays for peanuts.Sign Ryan, tender Butler, next year lock up Butler with some of the money they gave Gilmore. Done.
Benjamin had 104 yards today. The fact is the Panthers were pathetic on offense until they got to Foxboro. Kalil and Benjamin were also out today.
Yet again you don't understand the point. You think anything we post is going to have .00000000000001% impact on how the team plays, hilarious.
The refs, and you, sucked todayYet again you don't understand the point.
The TEAM won't blame the refs, only people that know little about football will.
I certainly remember the Pats torching his dumb ass in their matchups last year.He was rated meh by an outlet we (including you, specifically) have called so unreliable that we don't mention them by name. It's pretty well agreed upon he had a strong second half last season.
My mistake. Their receivers all insulted us all over the field today.Benjamin had 104 yards today.
You're warming up to me and you don't even realize it! I'm a slow burn. You'll see.I basically agree with you but you suck so much as a poster that I am reexamining my position.
Your dedication to watching the games in real time and starting these threads afterwards is impressive.MOD NOTE:
I am going to bed as it's 6 am here but if there are posts that do not follow the basic posting rules, I will be happy to clean them up in the morning.
It's so utterly myopic. The penalty is often the reason the action went somewhere else.I love the concept of "penalties shouldn't be called away from the action."
I got it.MOD NOTE:

You got it. I won't acknowledge a single thing he says.I got it.
Drewdog and H78, quite enough. There will not be a second warning.
So would you rather see more calls because there is 100% certainty that they could call more by the book. That is irrefutable. It's so utterly myopic. The penalty is often the reason the action went somewhere else.
No. I'm just saying that "calls away from the action shouldn't be called" is stupid as a general rule.So would you rather see more calls because there is 100% certainty that they could call more by the book. That is irrefutable.
I don't necessarily disagree but when the infraction is very minor and the guy still comes out of his break fine, where do you draw the line? You could call illegal contact on at least 1/2 the pass plays in the NFL.No. I'm just saying that "calls away from the action shouldn't be called" is stupid as a general rule.
