Don't mock when people feel badly about a FA leaving Fox w/o signing. There is something to the compelling sales pitch.

Let's see the numbers first, because BB may have used some of his espionage equipment to gather the information and told Steve not to bother.

Yeah, that's a nice deal for the Ravens. There's really no way for that contract to hurt the Ravens, regardless of how it's structured.

As I said though, I do think his personality is a perfect fit for that organization and locker room. It's not surprising if it was love at first sight.

I didn't even want Steve Smith but that's annoying.

Good thing the Pats didn't call Rodney Harrison while he was at the Raiders offices

I would have really liked to see Smith with the Pats. Guy is just so damn competitive. Maybe not the skill set they are lacking but you always have room for a player like that

He's also borderline insane.

Cortland Finnegan to the Dolphins for 2 years/11 million. He was injured/terrible last year and terrible the year before yet somehow got this deal and negotiated it himself. Dude needs to be an agent after he washes out of Miami.

Childish, yes, but I hope really bad things happen to Steve Smith.

He's already going to have to try to catch passes from Joe Flacco.

As a Fins' fan, I like the addition, but I'm borderline shocked at the $$ value. That said, I'm sure it's been structured to be a 1 year, "prove it deal". We won't know for sure until the guaranteed money is reported, but If he sucks this season, I'd imagine he'd be cut with minor cap consequences at the start of '15.

Despite several teams staying involved with Julian Edelman, $$$ isn't what his side hoped.
Pats standing firm with Edelman, but growing more confident in a return.

Patriots are in talks with former Ohio state buckeye Maurice Clarett for a chance at a come back #NFLFreeAgency

Loved him at Ohio State, but the guy is fucking nuts. This seems like some really out of left field stuff. 30 years old, hasn't even been on an NFL roster since 2005, last signed to a rugby team that he bailed on because "practices did not fit with his schedule" (per Wiki), never mind the jail stuff. Seems completely random, but Schefter doesn't usually throw shit against the wall with no basis.

Edit- Unless this is all part of Belichick's long game to get Hernandez back on the field. Find a way to implicate Clarett in the murder, spring Hernandez, get him back on a team friendly deal, profit?

Double edit- Fucking fucker.

Steal. Would have loved to see him on the Pats.

Where would Clarett even fit in?  Ridley, Vereen, Bolden, are established in their roles.  Unless he's replacing Blount, but he doesn't have the size or body frame to fill the masher role Blount did.

It should be telling that the Giants never even considered retaining him.

He's had lingering knee and foot injuries, and anyone who paid attention to the Giants trainwreck of a season in '13 knows that he had an acrimonious relationship with Coughlin.

EDIT - There's a very good chance the Nicks of '10-'11 is gone for good.

I think there was the sense that Nicks dogged it this year, and accordingly he was chained in Coughlin's dog-house.

The same account also announced that the Pats released Ridley, which would clear a space for Clarett.  So... yeah.

Fine with me, he said, meaning it while simultaneously working the reverse jinx to make sure Spikes doesn't come back to haunt us by injuring one of our impact guys. (Which is to say that I don't worry about him coming back to haunt us with any actual game-changing plays. I suspect Bill has a whole package of plays in a file marked "Spikes is in, pass-pass-PASS, even to fucking SLATER!!!")

I wouldn't mind the Pats kicking the tires on Cotchery. He's 32 but he would be the perfect 4th or 5th receiver on this team. The guy gets open. And he is probably dirt cheap. PFF loves him.

Spikes gets one year at $3.25. Probably disappointed he didn't get a multi year deal. Smart of the Bills.
He will light up Ridley in the run game and will be 3 yards behind Vereen on a swing pass. I love the guy but Collins and Hightower at the end of the season were way better than Spikes at his peak.

Saw on the Twitters that Julius Peppers has signed with the Packers.

Sucks that Peppers didn't come but without Wilfork being cut there is no way Peppers comes here. That being said let's get Jared Allen NOW!
