I think he does want to leave the franchise in great shape, which is why, I think, the JG trade took the wind out of his sails. It’s going to be harder now, and longer too.
I think BB is here as long as it takes, as long as he is able and — critically — as long as the Krafts honor what has been the deal for 18 years, with one notable exception in Brady — he is the dictator. If they try to claw back any personnel power, I think BB will be gone so fast their heads will spin. He is not putting up with that at this stage.
In that connection, I did not like the vibe of certain Kraft remarks during SB week: Bob’s remark about keeping egos in check, Jonathan’s spiking the football over TB getting to decide when he retires. I think and certainly hope I am reading too much into it. In any case, from a leverage standpoint, in case it is needed, Bill has the Krafts by the balls.
