I admire St. Francis for continuing to do what got them there. They tried to be UMBC. Problem was, UCONN wasn't UVA.
Specifically... UCONN may not play the old LMU style, but they play quick. 7 100+ point games during the season (high of 124) and eight additional games of 90+ means that SFPA was just playing into the Huskies hands.
And then... they couldn't hit a shot. 18 for 81 from the field. 10 for 57 from 3. And who hoovered up the rebounds?
UCONN out rebounded SFPA 69 to 30. Which led to quick layups (UCONN had 38 assists on 59 made buckets).
Perhaps the most amazing Stat of the night is the UCONN'S bench scored 62 points... or more than the entire St. Francis team. Given that Geno has never been much for an extended bench...
(In a 4th quarter that was bench against bench... the Huskies won 24-4)
