Hope it's not a season-ender, but did not look good.
Cromartie escaped a similar injury with only a bit of time lost. Hope it's the same.

Just shaddup.Sounds like he may have passed his initial ACL testamabobber.
Leveon Bell's injury was "just" an MCL but is out for the year.My understanding is the test is pretty much conclusive though I'm sure they want to do the MRI to be absolutely certain.
Obviously great news if it is "just" MCL.
If I am construing the "hope" tweet correctly, it sounds like he's suggesting the patriots staff doesn't see it as season-ending so any "yeah-but" MCL panic posts are likely moot. That's MY hope.
Bell also tore his PCL, totally different situation.Leveon Bell's injury was "just" an MCL but is out for the year.
Since he tore his MCL, it's supposed to take months to be at 100%.

The initial exam for an ACL (the Lachman test) is as accurate as an MRI in experienced hands, so the tweet by LaCanfora gives me hope that it is indeed "only" an MCL - 2-4 weeks of James White and get Dion tuned up for the playoffs....
Ohhh. I read that his MCL was torn and but his ACL was spared. I was surprised by the the timeframe because MCL injuries are usually 4-6 week things. (Just speaking as a fan watching the games/players)Bell also tore his PCL, totally different situation.

If you're not going to follow me on Twitter I just don't know what to sayOhhh. I read that his MCL was torn and but his ACL was spared. I was surprised by the the timeframe because MCL injuries are usually 4-6 week things. (Just speaking as a fan watching the games/players)
Funny how the reports I read didn't mention the PCL. Good to read and for future injuries.
Is that true in both directions / for both types of errors (specificity, sensitivity)? The initial exam for an ACL (the Lachman test) is as accurate as an MRI in experienced hands, so the tweet by LaCanfora gives me hope that it is indeed "only" an MCL - 2-4 weeks of James White and get Dion tuned up for the playoffs....
Duffy:@AdamSchefter Patriots RB Dion Lewis scheduled to undergo MRI on his knee. No swelling yet, a good sign. ACL loose, a bad sign. MRI to tell full story.
@KevinRDuffy Trainers can usually tell with initial tests. So this isn't a good sign
That's a bit drastic, especially with at least one other team 8-0 in the conference. He's not Gronk.I would rather have lost the game and had him healthy.
Loose ACL is not good, but not the end of the world. I'd be curious how his healthy knee feels relative to his injured one. After my ACL/MCL surgery, my doctor was mildly concerned with the elasticity in my knee, but was much more comfortable after feeling the same looseness in my healthy knee.Schefty:

No snark - why is that? What would swelling indicate?Loose ACL is not good, but not the end of the world. I'd be curious how his healthy knee feels relative to his injured one. The no-swelling is huge. Fingers crossed he's ready by playoffs.
Most patients get very swollen after an ACL tear - most do, in fact- but it may not be for a few hours after the initial injury, but most patients do. So the lack of initial swelling doesn't put me completely st ease, and the reports that his ACL is "loose" gives me a pit in my stomach. Whatever, it's all idle speculation until the MRI, but my gut tells me he's done for the yearNo snark - why is that? What would swelling indicate?

I hear you, but I genuinely feel that way. I'd rather have Dion Lewis and lose there than not have him for the rest of he he season bc I think this team is so diverse and nearly unstoppable with him (and all the other key folks) healthy. Fingers crossed that he's not lost for the year or that we maintain a stellar offense in his absence. (Which I do think is possible. I'm just really bummed about the worst-case scenario.)That's a bit drastic, especially with at least one other team 8-0 in the conference. He's not Gronk.
I hear ya. If every hit he takes for the rest of the career is like the brutal hit that caused this injury then...I guess he's been tackled for the last time.Given his size and running style (and injury history), is there realistic hope he be healthy for lengthy stretches? This would be his second injury this year and it doesn't feel like he's taken a ton of abuse.
Sorry, I must have missed the "brutal hit that caused this injury" since he got it planting his foot. I also must have missed the brutal hit that caused his "abdomen injury" and forced him to miss the Jets game.I hear ya. They really need either Vollmer or Cannon back for that one, but knock on wood those don't seem like season enders. Interior OL is reasonably healthy, just somewhat limited.Yeah, I am Johnny one note, but I am more concerned about the O-line. Playing TEs at tackle is not going to cut it when you get down to the short strokes, or at Denver for that matter.
I think everybody agrees with you that Lewis is having an incredibly productive season and valuable to this team. To me, the injury to Vollmer is way more concerning than Lewis though. Assuming Vollmer is out at least 2-3 weeks, they literally don't have bodies on the roster to play tackle if somebody goes down next week. Now, perhaps they shift Michael Williams from TE to tackle again, but they might have to clear a roster spot given the number of guys down. That's going to hurt.I hear you, but I genuinely feel that way. Tongue in cheek I think?Sorry, I must have missed the "brutal hit that caused this injury" since he got it planting his foot. I also must have missed the brutal hit that caused his "abdomen injury" and forced him to miss the Jets game.
