Okafor is still beasting. 20 points, 9 boards and 2 blocks on 8/10 shooting with about 3 minutes to go in the 3rd.. Losing to the Rockets by 3 on the road.

We all know why Davis is asking for a trade now...

23/10/2 with 16 min to go in the game on 9-11 shooting. This kid just doesn't miss when he gets shots up and he's not even close to the defensive liability he was in Philly now that he's in NBA shape.

And now an assist on a nifty backdoor bounce pass.

I think he got a really bum deal in Philly.

I'm not convinced Bender is good but he's getting a bum deal too. Back to the bench with the return of Holmes. If you're going to draft bigs, you can't give up on them when they are 20-21 years old.

Ingram really looks like a non-entity. It's hard to see the Pels biting on him as the center of a package.

Some thoughts from tonight...…..

1. Rudy Gay with the game winner for the Spurs got me thinking of Boogie's comeback and that we can maybe scrap the antiquated idea that an achilles injury is career threatening. Technology today is not what it was a dozen or more years ago.

2. The Lakers look like they are waiting for Anthony Davis and LeBron to check into the game. Wow, talk about a team looking completely unprepared to compete in this first quarter!

3. No, Kyrie is not getting traded this week. Is it THAT slow of a news day? Sheesh.

I don't know if LeBron/Klutch actually helped their case this week.

The TNT crew is observing that the Lakers youngsters are playing like they know they are short-timers and the score makes it hard to disagree.

Demps has to be watching this game and thinking that there is no way he is going to seal his fate by taking in whatever mediocre package Magic and Pelinka are trying to foist on him.

New Orleans winning on the road w/o Davis makes me happy. Kenrich Williams gets 8 points and 16 rebounds. Fuck this whole circus.
Watched the second half of this game. Man Jrue Holiday doe not get the props he deserves.

More importntly, NO "held" Harden to 10 FT attempts. NO took how we MIL played Harden. Holiday even got a block of a Harden 3 without having a whistle called.

Harden is going to be unstoppable when he figures out his adjustment.

Yup. End of the day, it comes down to their evaluations of Ball/Ingram. Kuzma and Hart are both going to be 24 before next season and feature more as role players for a good team. If you think Ball and Ingram can develop into tier 1 guys, you do it. I’m not very high on either so there’s no way I pull the trigger when there is a possibility of Tatum in a few months.

Why does it feel so dirty to root for the Lakers to beat the Sixers?
Because the original "Beat LA!" chant was Celtics Nation's expression of grudging respect for the Sixers and eternal antipathy for the Lakers?

Edit: also, rooting for LA now means you also secretly want the Rams in the Superbowl and wanted the Dodgers in the World Series. :)

I ask this seriously...….why would Demps ever negotiate a trade within their conference to the Lakers who they are accusing of tampering? Maybe I'm nuts but I'd be very surprised if this is as simple as Davis being traded to the Lakers by next summer.

I have no idea what Corey Brewer is doing on either end of the floor in his first few possessions of the 2nd half but I'm guessing that it isn't remotely close to what Brett Brown had in mind.

Baron Davis on the TNT post-game, "Can't Anthony Davis be a Free Agent at the end of the season?" (Candace Parker had to tell him no).

GJGE Baron.

Edit: Now Webber is questioning why Embiid played so much in this "blowout" that was a 3-4 possession game most of the second half as they all agree LeBron should sit out the rest of the season...…..and "Click." Good night TNT.

I generally agree with this, but I guess the counter is that Rich Paul and Magic deliver the message to Demps that if they do the deal now, the Pelicans get everything the Lakers can offer, whereas if they wait until the summer, Paul very firmly puts the word out that Davis won’t re-sign with anyone else, Demp’s leverage tanks, and the Lakers can pull assets back from their offer (keeping one of Ball/Ingram/Kuzma, not including Zubac, fewer future picks, etc.) and still have the top offer.

I think Demps still calls their bluff because Ainge will call Paul’s bluff and still bids this summer, but it’s not impossible to see Demps blink and do the deal now.

Ainge can and will outbid anything the Lakers can offer, if Demps is thinking about it rationally. If that means a lower offer in the summer, then great. But do we really think that Pelinka is going to decrease his offer come July, and then not increase it back up when faced with a better competing Boston offer? Either you make a rival pay more dearly, or you get the player you want at terms that were previously acceptable. The intervening 30 games + playoffs isn't going to make a huge difference to the value of acquiring him.

Demps would have to be a total idiot for a deal to LA to happen in the next week, when his leverage is at a minimum.

Looks like DSJ and Doncic can play together going off the last few games. I wonder if he rescinds his trade request. Has that ever happened?

Pacers getting blitzed in DC. Down 22 midway through 3rd. Celtics will be .5 game out of 4th.

DC is on a b2b too. The Pacers are done this year unless they get Conley, and even then the Celtics should pass them comfortably.

Looking at Indiana's schedule, there is very real chance that including this game, they manage to go something like 8-25 the rest of the way. Being charitable, they may eek out a few more wins but its brutal that this team started off so well and yet may just crack 40 wins when all is said and done,

Good game in New Orleans, as the Brow-less Pels down only 91-93 to the Nuggets in the fourth. Jokic with a triple double.

Conley is having a better year than Oladipo was.
I'm aware--I should have clarified. I meant that the combination of losing these past few games, and the Celtics being on a generally upward trajectory, would make it hard for Indy to keep ahead.

Debatable and Oladipo is 6'4. Conley is 6'1. It would help them offensively but not much defensively.

They should make a move for him anyway but I don't see what they have to offer besides some meh picks. Of course I doubt Conley gets much of a return so some meh picks may be enough.

Is there any team more disappointing the last 2 years than the Wolves? They are currently beating Memphis 84-82 at home with a little less than 7 minutes left.

How does a team with Towns suck so bad? I guess you could same the same about the Pelicans.

Wiggins' massive regression really sunk the franchise. He looked like he had stuff to build on through his first couple years, and then it's all kind of stagnated since.

The Nets will make a run at Indy for the 5 seed.

If the Celts end up with the 3 seed, would you rather face the Pacers or Nets?

I am not really seeing any debate though. Oladipo shoots worse from three, two, and free throw, assists less, turns it over more. Oladipo certainly plays better defense and rebounds better, but this year, it is quite clear who is the better player.

Pacers, but I'd feel fine in both matchups. Sure as hell beats playing Philly in the 1st round.

I think the defense makes it debatable, especially when you are talking about Indiana as a whole. They really, really miss Oladipo and Conley doesn't fill that void. He would definitely help on offense though. That team needs someone who can score.

Trae Young actually hasn't been that bad outside of November, at least for a rookie.

Pretty sure the Kings could lose the rest of their games and the best the pick would be is 6th or 7th.

Again, Indiana may end up going something like 8-25 or 10-23 the rest of the way out. Their schedule is pretty brutal with a tough west coast swing, a few games against the Cs, Bucks and 76ers as well as some tough home and B2B games. They only have a handful of games against bad teams left. They should still make the playoffs but its also possible that the Wizards manage to sneak past them - all bets are off if they can snag a Conley of course. But Indiana may well be the eight seed when everything is said and done.

The Knicks, Cavs, Bulls, and Suns are just in another level of losing, with the Hawks not that far ahead; the best anyone else is going to do is 6th worst.
