The beauty of baseball is a guy 5’5” being one of the very best players in the game, no questions asked.Altuve has been my favorite non-Sox player for a number of years, if I could pick any one outside of Boston to end the Yankees' season it would be that man. He's should have a heck of a HoF case when it is all said and done.
Fair enough but getting behind in the count, he can't smoke players like he used to.Yea but that's not really what I'm getting at. Just that Chapman wasn't even close tonight. He was throwing 98s 14 inches off the plate and then fooled Altuve once on a slider, second time went over the fence. He had no FB.
Could put that pic for Chapman, too.
Awesome thank you! Love to hear the radio calls.
I will not be surprised if the Yankees try to move on from him. The guy seems to be on the outs with not just the fans in NY but the team as well. Can we all thank the heavens for Gary Sanchez? Leaving aside is unwillingness to block balls, his postseason OPS in 107 PA's is .599.
He's basically Gio Urshela prior to 2019.
jon abbey can go into this but I think they love his pitch calling?I will not be surprised if the Yankees try to move on from him. The guy seems to be on the outs with not just the fans in NY but the team as well.
Realmuto would have given them another DJ-like tough out that their lineup really needed. Really glad they didn’t show much interest there.I will not be surprised if the Yankees try to move on from him. The guy seems to be on the outs with not just the fans in NY but the team as well.
His pitch blocking was great pretty much all year, I think he got really exhausted with all the sign switching and everything else in this series. He is a better defensive catcher than Romine overall, and of course a more dangerous hitter even at his worst. The team really loves him, the fan base does not and is dumb.jon abbey can go into this but I think they love his pitch calling?
also I just realized Boone's gone full circle from 2003 tonight.
Yea, I mean...no. Sanchez has been a stud defensively all year, including passed balls. It's his bat that's the issue right now because he streaks in a way where he goes from one of the best hitters in the league to one of the worst and there's no telling when. He crushes the best pitching in the league then can't hit a pitching machine.I will not be surprised if the Yankees try to move on from him. The guy seems to be on the outs with not just the fans in NY but the team as well.
That is fair. The Post, in particular, seems to have it in for him which seems strange. His pitch blocking was great pretty much all year, I think he got really exhausted with all the sign switching and everything else in this series. He is a better defensive catcher than Romine overall, and of course a more dangerous hitter even at his worst. The team really loves him, the fan base does not and is dumb.
Hah! No take backs!I suddenly feel bad about watching your movie.
Also, my 4th round pick in the 2011 SOSH Real Fantasy Draft continues to be one of the biggest steals.
Who doesn't love Papi?love the postgame. seems like everybody loves papi.
The man has been intimate with Madonna. You keep your distance. You might catch Jose Cansecoitis, and your finger might fall off.Justin Verlander sits down with the Fox crew, and once again, big hugs and back slaps with Papi, polite handshake with ARod.
The Altuve one is actually good. He’s not lamenting the loss, he’s playing it pretty much down the middle.
What defensive stat shows Sanchez as a stud?Yea, I mean...no. Sanchez has been a stud defensively all year, including passed balls. It's his bat that's the issue right now because he streaks in a way where he goes from one of the best hitters in the league to one of the worst and there's no telling when. He crushes the best pitching in the league then can't hit a pitching machine.
Sanchez seems to be a target for this board or maybe Sox fans, I dunno. Certainly, he's pissed off a ton of Yankees fans too with his disappearing act in the postseason. However, it's similar to when people used to say the Yankees should trade Arod because he wasn't clutch. Yea, I mean, it's true...but do you sell on a player who is top at their position for 162 games because they strike out too much in the playoffs? That's not rhetorical. Maybe. But I don't know.
I'm not gonna do this tonight, but we can certainly pick it back up during the offseason. Cannon arm, learned to block the plate which was his only weakness, and pitchers like throwing to him. His pitch framing took a step back, but that's about it.What defensive stat shows Sanchez as a stud?
So ARod and Canseco are Eskimo brothers? Got it.The man has been intimate with Madonna. You keep your distance. You might catch Jose Cansecoitis, and your finger might fall off.
But Romine can pitch in a pinch. Ask Brock Holt. His pitch blocking was great pretty much all year, I think he got really exhausted with all the sign switching and everything else in this series. He is a better defensive catcher than Romine overall, and of course a more dangerous hitter even at his worst. The team really loves him, the fan base does not and is dumb.
That being said, this will be the third straight offseason I'll hope that they upgrade the backup, I would offer D'Arnaud 3/24 and see if that is enough.
Yeah I just checked it - he isn't amongst the top five in DRS, Adj ERA or the strike zone metrics I've looked at. He isn't even in the top 10 for Fangraphs defensively but maybe I am missing something. What defensive stat shows Sanchez as a stud?
May be time wasted in the game is a defensive stat. What defensive stat shows Sanchez as a stud?
His framing numbers sucked and he only threw out 23% of runners this year. Romine was better at framing and SB% (not that Romine was great, he wasn't).I'm not gonna do this tonight, but we can certainly pick it back up during the offseason. Cannon arm, learned to block the plate which was his only weakness, and pitchers like throwing to him. His pitch framing took a step back, but that's about it.
Stud was a strong word. The topic at hand was whether the team needed to move on from him, building on the premise that he’s an abysmal defender. They don’t, he isn’t.His framing numbers sucked and he only threw out 23% of runners this year. Romine was better at framing and SB% (not that Romine was great, he wasn't).
Missed this last night.I was at the Papi ALDS series-ending walkoff against the Angels in 2004. We all stayed in the park for a while -- and that one wasn't as dramatic as this one.
Most clutch play in sports history? Sounds like a new thread. Also Malcolm Butler would like a word.As good as the Judge cut-off play was - and it was maybe the most clutch play in professional sports history - that Brantley catch and double play was just sick. Not as clutch as Judge but clutch regardless. Especially with the dangerous Judge on base.
Check your sarcasm meter. It needs some calibration work. Most clutch play in sports history? Sounds like a new thread. Also Malcolm Butler would like a word.
Be gentle This is the same fanbase that was completely deluded about the defensive prowess of their longtime SS..His framing numbers sucked and he only threw out 23% of runners this year. Romine was better at framing and SB% (not that Romine was great, he wasn't).
