Should have just gone pro, PJ.

The gun and ammo charges came prior to the draft which wouldn't have helped his stock. You can't fix stupid regardless of pro or not......the kid needs to smarten up before he becomes he kills himself or worse, an innocent bystander.

I would encourage you to examine the lines of Parker and Hood in tonight's game.

As good as Parker and Hood were last night it still feels like Quinn Cook is this team's x factor. He was awesome last night, but he had his share of great games last year too. If he becomes more consistent then they are definitely a contender.

Cook is definitely going to be a key piece, but having Hood and Parker is a matchup nightmare for other teams.  Most teams simply don't have two wing players that can go with those guys, and it's going to create all kinds of mismatches over the course of the season.  They're still lacking a true post presence, but the way the college game is these days, that's not particularly unusual.

Duke looked very good...I was also pleasantly surprised how good UNC looked, especially in the first half. PJ and Leslie McDonald are practicing but can't play due to some NCAA drag-assing, so it's messed up the rotation and everything quite a bit. James Michael looked fantastic and Kennedy Meeks gave them some good play at the other frontcourt spot. So I'm pretty optimistic we'll be a team that can go with anybody when everybody is able to play.

Huge get for Duke, it's been a long, long time since they had a really strong post presence offensively.  Jones will probably start alongside Cook in the backcourt next year, kind of like what they've been doing with Thornton this year.  I'm assuming that Parker is gone, but even with that, a starting 5 of Jones, Cook, Hood, Jefferson, and Okafor is going to be a really, really fun team to watch.

We're going to lose to fucking Belmont University at home because of a free throw shooting exhibition so bad it defies description.  It's like an entire team of Ben Wallaces.

You've made the same number as they've attempted.

The end of that game was so predictable. Roy had them playing prevent defense and running out the clock on offense.. When it came time to make a play, no one remembered how. Just awful.

Meantime the coach at the other basketball school in the research triangle is crying to Dookie V about this being his least-talented roster ever.  Hello irrelevance.

Probably the best class for Duke since the '99 class of Williams, Boozer, and Dunleavy.  Hard to believe that class came right on the heels of the Brand/Battier class in '97 too.  Those teams, especially the '99 one that lost to UConn in the championship, were some of the most dominant teams I've ever seen play, along with the '90 and '91 UNLV teams and the '96 Kentucky team.

The fact that Grant Hill stuck around for 4 years still amazes me.  The guy was essentially Lebron before Lebron.  His second year in the league, he put up 20.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game.  Absolutely ridiculous talent until his ankle injuries.  The top 3 in that 1994 draft was pretty special, with Glenn Robinson, Jason Kidd, and Hill going 1-2-3.  What also stands out there is that only 8 out of 27 picks in the first round that year were NOT college seniors.  Compare that to the 2013 draft where only 3 of 30 picks WERE seniors.  Crazy how the draft has changed in 20 years.

How does the kid look close up?
I was at the game last night and will be at the finals as well. Jabari is a big strong kid and seems like more of a man among boys. He got off to a slow start but had a nice game overall. He really got involved on the defensive end and as a result the whole team seemed to play better defense.

He moves like Lebron and there will be comparisons as he gets bigger and stronger. Not that he will be as good but more that he is built like him and runs the floor like him. When he rises up to shoot over people he reminds me a lot of 'Melo. It will be fun watching him grow up.

Yep, Melo with effort is how I've heard him described.

I was at MSG last night also, he's just a big dude but is now being asked to play defense in not his position.

He might stay next year though.

Interesting on D. He's down playing the 5 in man and he just got switched and was at the point covering the pg. Guard takes a few dribbles, says fuck it and passes out. Not breaking down Jabari?? Kid creates mismatches no matter which end or against who.

Cook and Thornton have both been really unimpressive lately, particularly with their decision-making.  You really want more stability from your upperclassmen.  Beyond that, the lack of a true post player is a major issue since apparently Marshall Plumlee is incapable of even getting on the court right now.  Cook really needs to settle his game down, and Sulaimon needs to stop doing his Maverick-after-Goose-dies impersonation and get back in the game.

Don't deserve to win going 4-11 at the foul line and giving up 21 offensive rebounds.  UAB couldn't hit anything in the 2nd half but kept getting 2nd and 3rd chances.  James Michael McAdoo is playing himself into the D League or Europe.

Is it just an inconsistent coaching job by the UNC-CH head coach? Why is this team so hot and cold?

Lose to Belmont and UAB.

Beat Louisville and MSU.

In the Michigan game, announcers said Duke bball hasn't had 3 losses at Jan 1st in over 30 years.

Which is why I knew we'd beat Michigan.

I think UNC will either win the NCAA given their talent or lose in first round given their record. Two true outcomes.

These guys are lost in enemy territory but I appreciate their dedication.

Someone should change that P to a B and it would be more likely and apropos

Leslie McDonald has been cleared by the NCAA and can play tonight against Texas.  Still nothing on PJ but UNC hasn't even asked for his reinstatement according to this - http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/story/2013-12-18/pj-hairston-leslie-mcdonald-update-suspension-details-freepj-north-carolina-tar-heels-unc-ineligible - and he's probably not playing at UNC again.
Why do you think this? I figure he'll be back sometime early in the ACC run.

Otherwise wouldn't they have just cut him already?

I think the anticipation, including from the Yahoo report linked in the article, is he's just going to give up at some point and declare himself for the NBA draft.

Can't believe they are Belmont'ing another game.  I can't watch them shoot free throws any more.  The offensive execution in the final 3 minutes has been just as bad as it was in that game too.

Fitting end to that abortion.  Refs botch a review (or they couldn't review basket interference) but UNC gives up their millionth offensive rebound of the game before that.
