Am I the only person who imagined Rexy killing his TV when the Cards lost to the Pats?

This can't be true, can it?
"Ryan revealed to The Post on Monday that he had an arthroscopic procedure to remove the device that restricts food and beverage consumption and, as a result, has gained about 30 pounds back. He said he did it as a show of support to Rob, who did not have a good experience with the Lap Band and had his removed.
“I told him, we’ll figure this out together (without the Lap Band),’’ Ryan said. “Plus, I won more games without it than did with it in.’’

At 53 going on 73, the Ryans look like decent death pool candidates for the foreseeable future, especially if another failure in Buffalo hastens their exit from the NFL coaching ranks.

So the Bills waived baby Gronk and brought back their original fullback. Either they preferred him all along and just did not want to guarantee his salary for the season or baby Gronk just wasn't very good in the first game. Probably both.

Sounds like Rex is already feeling the pressure

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/17546250/rex-ryan-gives-obscenity-laced-speech-inspire-buffalo-bills

"Everything's questioned," Ryan told his players. "I forgot to how to f---ing coach. 'The players don't respond to Rex, he don't know what the f--- he's doing anymore.'"

Ryan then quoted Muhammad Ali -- 'I'm going to show you how f---ing great I am' -- and told his team that the "best revenge is massive success" this season.

"That's where I'm at," Ryan continued. "It ain't about being No. 1 in defense, No. 1 in offense, whatever. No, it's about us in this room, holding this damn trophy saying we won the whole m----f-----," he said. "That's where I'm at. Don't be afraid of it. I don't give a s--- who knows it. Here we are. Here the f--- we are. That's who the f--- I am.

"I'm going to tell you we're the f---ing best because I believe it. Let me f---ing say it. And if it doesn't work, I'll be the first m-----f----- that goes. And everyone one of you, I f---ing know you've got my back. All I want is every f---ing thing you got. I'll take every f---ing bullet known to man."

"LET'S GO EAT A GODDAMN SNACK!!!"

Edit: Wait a second you missed the best part:

Filmed for a team-produced documentary titled "Rex and Rob Reunited" that first aired on Buffalo-area television Saturday, a fiery Ryan told his team in a meeting at the beginning of training camp that he has a "massive chip on [his] shoulder" because of criticism he faced following last season's 8-8 finish.

Need to find this video. This has got to be comedy gold.

They played it on the 20 minutes I watched of the ESPN Sunday morning show, which followed up with Berman saying he has no doubt the Bills were going to be good this year. Which was followed up with a 13-7 loss to Baltimore.

I get where he is at. If you try and go 10-6 you end up with 5 or 6 wins. The team has to believe they are the best and can win every game. But, he shares this publicly all the time. The fact he quoted Ali shows how Ali's bravado has been degraded to meaningless. Ali was the exception calling attention to himself. Even he was a sad shadow at the end, predicting victory over Holmes. Now bleacher report, every broadcast is full of guys beating their chests, predicting victories.

Ironically the stoic, no nonsense, I'll let my team's performance speak for me, is the exception and gets the same hostile treatment that Ali received in the early 60s.

Isn't Rex like 34-47 since 2010 with 0 playoff appearances since the Divisional Round Super Bowl win? He seems to think that one 8-8 season in Buffalo is causing all this.

The Bills have the Cardinals and Patriots the next two weeks. They're going to be 0-4 and Rex will be unemployed and 400 lbs in no time.

Of the two which performed better and had bigger plays (at least the parts I watched), and the Offensive Coordinator gets the boot?

It's good to be family.

How has someone not stepped in to nix these coaching personnel decisions? Like even if you are the owner and like Rex doesn't it stop at "hey I'm hiring my ne'er do well brother and firing the OC of my overachieving offense"?

I forget--did the NFL ever pass a rule that coaches can't sign on elsewhere after they get canned? Because I think Roman is a pretty great coach and there's some chance he'd love to spend the next six months working for the Pats and getting a chance to kick Rex's ass twice. (He also coached in the NFC west so he might give you some insight in the remaining games there).

Just out of interest I looked up the defensive rankings (by yards, and points) of Rob Ryan DC teams:

04, Oak, 30, 31
05, Oak, 27, 25
06, Oak, 3, 18
07, Oak, 22, 26
08, Oak, 27, 24
09, Cle, 31, T21
10, Cle, 22, 13
11, Dal, 14, 16
12, Dal, 19, 24
13, NO, 4, 4
14, NO, 31, 28
15, NO, 31, 32
16, Buf, ?, ?

I know those don't tell the whole story (talent he had, etc.) but at face value, his teams have had 2 rather good seasons ('06 and '13), ~3 'meh' seasons ('07, '10, '11), and 8 bad to awful ones.

He was LB coach on a few excellent NE defenses, so he's got that.
