Needing time off in summer league after barely playing in his NBA career doesn't fill me with a ton of confidence. The guy needs all the reps he can manage.Gamethread hot take: Langford never makes it off the back end of the bench in his career.
LOL too truePritchard looking like Sammy The Bull at the FBI office following a meeting.
They really are just a machine wrecking teams outside of the first half of Game 1.We know much of what we see against bad G-League players doesn’t translate but I will say this......we have a good chance to win this league this summer. Putting bias aside I haven’t seen a better team than these Celtics.
Oops. He was fun to watch tonight.Nice little post game interview with Sam Hauser......until she called him Tim. He wasn’t too thrilled either.
She was being consistent. At the end of the first half, she asked Nesmith about Kevin PritchardNice little post game interview with Sam Hauser......until she called him Tim. He wasn’t too thrilled either.
Numbers don't really matter. Tatum, Brown may be at 3, 4 but they will handle thje ball more than Nesmith.Nesmith looks so much better off the dribble, I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if he starts at the two. Not a gamethread post either, I’ve thought it was a possibility for awhile.
Yeah, even with how good Sharife has been in summer league, I'm glad the Celts passed on him and took Begarin. The French kid doesn't look nearly as raw as I had expected from reading his scouting reports.Begarin is going to be a beast.
I was ready to ship him to China after that first game, and watching Sharife abuse him at will, but he looked really good last night on offense. I was really impressed by that 3-pointer he made where the defender was all over him. My big question with him -- he's got the size for the NBA certainly -- is whether he's playable on defense. He looked terrible in the first game, but better last night.Sam Hauser on a 2-way looks like a nice pick-up.
Hauser plays good positional defense. Sharife is shredding every PG that’s crossing his path this summer so I wouldn’t be too concerned with Hauser also being unable to check him. Hauser hasn't yet puked all over himself on a national stage...?Hauser plays good positional defense. Sharife is shredding every PG that’s crossing his path this summer so I wouldn’t be too concerned with Hauser also being unable to check him. What is the difference between Hauser and Kispert?
One thing I noticed last night is that he tends to follow his shot. He made two plays yesterday where he missed a shot, but followed it and got the offensive rebound and immediately made a good pass to get a teammate an open look. His rebounding numbers were pretty good in college for a shooter, and he seems to have a quick mind when it comes to making the right pass.Sam Hauser on a 2-way looks like a nice pick-up.
Career 44% 3pt shooter in college with decent volume (5.6/gm). Never below 40% in a season.
54% FG/ 88% FT
Good all-around player in college. Adv stats+++. At the top of the leaderboards for several categories in ACC/Big East play, was more than a one-dimensional 3pt shooter in college.

Needs to add some muscle
I know Sam well and he's a great guy, but he did not cover himself in glory in UVA's first-round loss to Ohio in the NCAAs this spring. Fortunately, that kind of shooting was an aberration for him.Hauser hasn't yet puked all over himself on a national stage...?
One game is clearly an abberation although he also led VA in FTA, Ast and Rebound that game showing he can do other things even though he “looks” like only a shooter. He is sneaky quick on defense and understands how to flair to open spots for catch-and-shoots. He’s impressed me with how he plays the game this summer.......probably more than our veterans who we expect to outplay the younger inferior players.I know Sam well and he's a great guy, but he did not cover himself in glory in UVA's first-round loss to Ohio in the NCAAs this spring. I think Begarain's development would be marginally better at G-League since the Cs could let him work on specific things that they see but I think the bigger issue is what buy-out is required and whether he could afford the 2-way pay. My guess is that he goes back to the Paris Basketball and hopefully his coach will let him work on what he needs to work on.I like Hauser as a 2-way guy. The shot of course and he was able to show and deny drives a couple of times.
Karalis on the Locked On C's pod suggested today for the first time that the Celtics should consider signing Begarin. Is it better for him to develop in Maine under the watch of Celtics coaches or head back to Europe for a year or two. I like that pick, not for immediate value, but as a developmental project.
He had two years of defensive instruction from Tony Bennett. That doesn't hurt. One game is clearly an abberation although he also led VA in FTA, Ast and Rebound that game showing he can do other things even though he “looks” like only a shooter. His positioning and help is pretty great. The issue he’ll always have is the lack of athleticism/size vs bigs to effectively execute them.He had two years of defensive instruction from Tony Bennett. That doesn't hurt.
I think he needs to be a big, I don't think his feet are gonna get any quicker at this point, but he can add muscle. His positioning and help is pretty great. The issue he’ll always have is the lack of athleticism/size vs bigs to effectively execute them.
As much as I’ve loved the Begarin experience so far, I think Boston probably wants to delay starting the clock with him. I’m pretty sure he still has a contract so they can’t two way him (because he couldn’t afford the buyout then). I think that the best option might be to get Begarin in to work with Drew Hanlen, Rob McClanaghan, or Chris Johnson until it's time for him to report in France. Because then he'll have some new tools in the box to develop during a year playing in the French A League. And I agree with you that a year at the A League level in Europe is a better place to be working on his game right now than Maine.I don't know how the G league really works, but with Begarin one of his issues has been shot selection and it seems like playing in a competitive league in Europe puts a lot more pressure on him to fix that than gunning around with guys in the G league would.
It will be a great test for Madar. Romeo might get another chance to try to run point. Maybe Nesmith plays some PG too.Yam Madar, step on up.
Was wondering why PP was playing up 30 in a SL game.PP is done in Vegas.
Which is why Romeo got day off and not PP.
Hauser shot 47% from 3 in ACC play. I also wouldn't get hung up on 1 gameOne game is clearly an abberation although he also led VA in FTA, Ast and Rebound that game showing he can do other things even though he “looks” like only a shooter. He's too good for that league.PP is done in Vegas.

I am Brad.Nothing to see with Pritchard. We know what he is and I don’t expect him to play more than 1-2 more SL games......possibly same with Romeo.
He nearly left his Hauser in San Francisco, but this kid still has a chance to go from Rags to Riches. He had two years of defensive instruction from Tony Bennett. That doesn't hurt.
The way he looked tonight… but beautiful! He nearly left his Hauser in San Francisco, but this kid still has a chance to go from Rags to Riches.
I'm not a Kispert guy, & Hauser on a 2-way is a good thing, but Hauser is kind of a slower Kispert in every way - even slower running, slower release, even slower to get to the NBA (he turns 24 in December).Hauser plays good positional defense. Sharife is shredding every PG that’s crossing his path this summer so I wouldn’t be too concerned with Hauser also being unable to check him. What is the difference between Hauser and Kispert?
I'm a Hauser guy all the way, but this is spot on.I'm not a Kispert guy, & Hauser on a 2-way is a good thing, but Hauser is kind of a slower Kispert in every way - even slower running, slower release, even slower to get to the NBA (he turns 24 in December).
Doubt he ever translates to more than a niche situational player in the NBA. Shorter Steve Novak seems like a reasonable comp for lots of reasons (including Marquette).
Going from a rookie FA to a niche situation NBA player is a huge career win for Hauser. I’m not saying he’s going to be Reggie Miller but he has a chance to be Steve Novak......and so does Corey Kispert.I'm not a Kispert guy, & Hauser on a 2-way is a good thing, but Hauser is kind of a slower Kispert in every way - even slower running, slower release, even slower to get to the NBA (he turns 24 in December).

Novak shot 43% 3s across 11 seasons, but still only played 12.1 mpg in 467 games.
I think the Joe Harris comparisons are pretty accurate for Kispert. Not much difference between the two in size, athleticism or shooting ability.Going from a rookie FA to a niche situation NBA player is a huge career win for Hauser. Eh, I mean sure, but that's Hauser's almost best case & Kispert's almost worst case.Going from a rookie FA to a niche situation NBA player is a huge career win for Hauser. I’m not saying he’s going to be Reggie Miller but he has a chance to be Steve Novak......and so does Corey Kispert.
