Edwards was never just a shooter in college - he was a scorer, even when facing double-teams or other kinds of gimmick defenses. The fact that he had deep range opened up the floor for him but the fact that he was able to finish at the rim opened up his jumper.
He was never a catch-and-shoot guy. He was - is - defend me at 26 feet, and I'll go by you but if you don't defender me at 26 feet. That's a tough way to play if the ball isn't in his hands a lot, which it isn't. He wasn't terribly efficient but he was effective in college.
So he's working on being more consistent with the shots he might get using the Cs sets. That's a good thing. Despite this, as repeated often here and elsewhere, he certainly doesn't look a rotation player right now, which is too bad.
But he can score at all three levels, which is a trait that the NBA values. And it looks like he can get his shot pretty much whenever he wants. He just needs to make something consistently. I think he needs to pull up inside the arc more often as he seems like that's probably his most consistent half-court shot right now but what do I know. Once he starts hitting something consistently, the other shots will come IMO. Of course, he might have to learn that overseas.
