Has anyone seen the math to back this up?
It checks out,but they need LTIR to actually ice a full team.

They called up Filipe last night. If they send Reilly, Foligno, Wagner, Filipe and Lauko down they get to $400K under the cap. But they need some combo of those players to actually play so they will need LTIR to call them up. I don’t see any way around it.

Apparently SOIR gives cap relief. So they are $400K under with a 20-man roster:

Hall - Bergeron - DeBrusk
Zacha - Krejci - Pastrnak
Greer - Coyle - Smith
Frederic - Nosek - Studnicka

Lindholm - Carlo
Grzelyck - Zboril
Forbort - Clifton

Swayman
Ullmark

IR: McAvoMarchand
SOIR: Filipe

More transactions coming tomorrow.

Most likely, Marchand to LTIR, Gryz to IR, then 1-2 of Foligno/Reilly/Wagner back to BOS ($3.375mm) and Stralman signed ($1mm, est). LTIR pool will be $6.125mm (Marchand cap) less $400k (cap space before LTIR).

When Marchand returns, the Bruins will need to free up the space. Could mean a Reilly and/or Smith trade. Could mean some combination of Foligno/Reilly/Wagner back to Providence or traded into someone's cap space.

So with these moves, management has given itself and the players til thanksgiving to separate wheat from chaff. Hopefully, the spectre of not being in the NHL creates some spirited play among the competitors.
