Let's see, he married a gymnast who was in his freshman dorm, he's worth fifty million or so, so he's busy having a fucking awesome life and not getting concussions? What’s Andrew Luck up to these days?

Not always easy to get a message through to the army of the Potomac.Luck/his agent must have been extremely convincing and forceful when rejecting teams soon after retirement because I don't even recall hearing any speculation of it and he'd be a prime candidate to get calls if I've ever seen one.
Walton had already missed significant time with the Blazers.Bill Walton with the Clippers? Signed with San Diego, Missed first 3 months of season, played 14 games then missed next 2 1/2 years.
Thanks. I’ll send $10.Surgery, but with ayahuasca for anesthesia
The Jets can. They would just take on his salary, which is only 1.5M this season.Any chance they could fit Stafford into their budget? Rams are obviously rebuilding, and this would increase their odds to bottom out.
They needed to buy the Platinum package for things like injury predictions, sex scandals, and criminal charges. They only paid for the Silver package which includes things like “What number am I thinking of?”If on the mentalist they brought in for the 1st episode of Hard Knocks saw this coming.
The number on his jersey represents the number of years since he last played in the NFL.Kaep’s agent has reached out to the Jets expressing his readiness and desire to play:

I'm still productive. Not nearly as big or quite as soon, but Esasky.
This one from May? Doesn't sound significant or recent enough to be what you're referring to. Not 100% sure what prior calf injury we're talking about, I did not watch Hard Knocks so maybe missed something. When Kevin Durant had a calf injury followed by an Achilles tear, people were KILLING the Warriors for allegedly "rushing KD back." I'm surprised that we have not yet heard similar unhappiness with the Jets' medical staff despite Rodgers seemingly following the same path -- significant calf injury>Achilles tear.
So they were talking about this on the radio today. Saying that the Jets should be willing to trade the first for another QB now. Setting aside whether or not that is a smart strategy my question for people who know more than me is, can they?So NY gets it’s first round pick back from GB as pick now becomes 2nd rounder
I think they could. It would just be conditional in the same way the Rodgers trade was, but both sides would know that it's a first rounder. (A second that becomes a first if....).So they were talking about this on the radio today. Saying that the Jets should be willing to trade the first for another QB now. Setting aside whether or not that is a smart strategy my question for people who know more than me is, can they?
I feel like that wouldn’t be allowed because, even though we know Rodgers won’t hit the snap threshold, the trade won’t be fully executed until the season ends.
They can trade it but just make it conditional. Like they say it is a 2025 1st round round pick that converts to a 2024 first round pick if the conditions on the Rodgers trade aren’t met.So they were talking about this on the radio today. He’s going to be doing this for at least another decade.Kaep’s agent has reached out to the Jets expressing his readiness and desire to play:

I’d rather have the propofol. My quadruple bypass was the best sleep I ever got in my life, and the dreams were trippy AF.Surgery, but with ayahuasca for anesthesia
Morbidly, the soccer player Emiliano Sala. This is really, really wild. Has any big time free agent/ traded player in any sport gone down for the year this quickly ever?
No clue what, if anything , he has left football wise. But there is no good reason for the Jets not to at least kick the tires. When you factor in the very limited realistic options out there. He’s going to be doing this for at least another decade.
I also think it's horeshit how he was treated but if he was really serious about playing he would have figured out a way to put something on tape in the USFL, XFL, CFL whatever in this intervening period. Go dominate and drum up more fan support, put teams in a more difficult position to ignore him. These statements feel like publicity stunts but not a lot more.I am a Kaep supporter and think what the league did to him over him daring to voice some opinions that are unpopular with a large segment of the NFL fan base is absolute dogshit. But he’s almost 36 now and hasn’t played a down of meaningful football since 2016. It sucks that he was robbed of a bunch of years where at worst he would have been a competent backup QB, but at this point I don’t think he’s a realistic option. Would love to be wrong on this, though.

A corollary to the "quickly injured traded player" question is "how long a career layoff is too long?"I am a Kaep supporter and think what the league did to him over him daring to voice some opinions that are unpopular with a large segment of the NFL fan base is absolute dogshit. When your a jet your a jet all the way, from when you were small like Chrebet to your's Achilles' last day!@sodenj5 time for an updated thread title.
While it makes a lot of sense, that's a team with a coach and GM on the hot seat who went 8-8 last year and went out of their way to upgrade backup QB (signing Brissett on good money), seems unlikely they make that move until the deadline (if they are looking bad).I'd call the Commanders for Jacoby Brissett.
Sam Howell has thrown 50 passes in the NFL and they only have Jake Fromm on the PS. They also hold delusions of competing. I can't see them trading their only veteran QB.I'd call the Commanders for Jacoby Brissett.

I think this applies to nearly every team's backup. Trading your backup today means your season is over if your starter gets hurt. I just don't see how any team is going to get comfortable doing that. As discussed above, maybe teams carrying a third QB would move their third QB, but those guys aren't guaranteed to be better than Wilson.Sam Howell has thrown 50 passes in the NFL and they only have Jake Fromm on the PS. They also hold delusions of competing. I can't see them trading their only veteran QB.
He definitely wouldn't be free. He was brought in for a reason. But I think we're now at a point were he is more valuable to the Jets than he is to the Commanders, so you'd think that delta could be translated to a draft pick and it could be a win for the Jets, Commanders, and Brissett.Sam Howell has thrown 50 passes in the NFL and they only have Jake Fromm on the PS. They also hold delusions of competing. I can't see them trading their only veteran QB.
But this is a good point. Rivera probably won't be around to use that pick, so he probably wouldn't look at it as a win for him. If only Washington had an owner willing to get involved in personnel decisions...While it makes a lot of sense, that's a team with a coach and GM on the hot seat who went 8-8 last year and went out of their way to upgrade backup QB (signing Brissett on good money), seems unlikely they make that move until the deadline (if they are looking bad).
No love for this? Come on, this was good! When your a jet your a jet all the way, from when you were small like Chrebet to your's Achilles' last day!
The backups for three of those teams are Andy Dalton, Davis Mills, Brissette (already discussed). Are we sure Mills or the corpse of Andy Dalton is better than Zach Wilson? The Cardinals are really the only team that as of this week can be reasonably said to be not competing for a playoff spot. Yes, Carolina, Houston, Indy, and Washington all have long odds, but you can squint and see those first two divisions being up for grabs and while the NFC East almost certainly isn't, the Commanders can dream on a wild card spot. As such, I just can't see any high quality backup getting traded until week 4 or 5, and it gets late out there early as they say. If Wilson's winning, it's probably not worth significant draft capital, and assuming he's not, how in the race will the Jets be when any of those teams are ready to sell?
Seems like Mills could be better than Zach. Zach can't hit a target. The backups for three of those teams are Andy Dalton, Davis Mills, Brissette (already discussed). Are we sure Mills or the corpse of Andy Dalton is better than Zach Wilson?
Minshew and Sam Ehrlinger are the Colts' backups, but Anthony Richardson is already hurt, so I doubt Ehrlinger is going anywhere.
John Wolford is on the Rams' practice squad. I think I'd sign him if I were the Jets. He's shown some competence at the NFL level. The rest of the practice squad QBs with NFL experience are uninspiring - Jeff Driskel, Brett Rypien, Ben DiNucci, Jake Fromm, PJ Walker.
Just realized that this guy (Nathan Rourke) is on the Jags' practice squad: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BKWC3uQc2Q0

Admittedly didnt see too much of TB12 last year, but from what I did see (and read about) I dont think Brady is a great option for these jets are their O line issues. He might be the best option, but still not a great option.Seems like Mills could be better than Zach. Zach can't hit a target.
But you are right, the Jets are scraping the bottom of the bottom of the barrel. The only great option is Tom Brady and that's just a fact.
No, it's not a great option. But Brady gets the ball out faster than any QB in the league. It's what he did last year when he had a paper mache. But compared to Mills and Dalton and Minshew, Brady is the best NFL QB option. But not ideal, he's 46 years old.Admittedly didnt see too much of TB12 last year, but from what I did see (and read about) I dont think Brady is a great option for these jets are their O line issues. What is the ghosts video? Also, as someone who has worked in sports media on the league side, I still can't believe they let the "ghosts" video go live on air. David Stern would have had someone killed for that.
