The Astros have not played well at home and Valdez is the Game 6 starter. If Texas can find a way to beat Verlander tomorrow and go back to Houston up 3-2 they can win this.

I don't like him much, but Smoltz did a great description there of the right pitch, and Montgomery threw it and got the strike-out.
I will feel so much better when the Rangers score.

Feels as though when you get the Astros swinging at balls out of the zone, you really need to take advantage. They have had some over-anxious at bats this game.

Time for Rangers' bats to wake up.

At the same time, I’ve seen 2nd basemen get that transfer call on the pivot regularly
Yeah, not much is required since 2014. After the brouhaha in 2014 when the were requiring you to actually possess the ball in your throwing hand, the MLB changed the rule so that a catch is pretty simple and easy, but even under the liberal rule, that one was no good. There still needs to be possession and voluntary release.

I think maybe there was a Pedroia play that led to the rule change.

So statcast/savant has Lowe's home run as 380, and out in 29 parks. No way that's right, is there? It was just to the right of the foul pole and 5 rows back. It's 329 down the line.

Anyway, I thought it was an oppo cheapy fly ball, but statcast has it as 101.4 exit velocity, so I was definitely wrong. Optical illusion I guess.
