I would def be in on that.8 HRs in 89 career ABs in Yankee Stadium and still just 28, would love if Cashman could get him on a Bauers-type minor league deal and give him a shot in camp.

Definitely get the feeling they have some big moves coming.
Scary to think about. You have to believe they already have a couple of things lined upDefinitely get the feeling they have some big moves coming.
Yup. They really should be flexing their muscles right now with all those cheap deals. Acuna, Albies, Strider, and Harris will make combined $30M next year. Perfect time to bring in another star. A payroll reckoning is coming but they have the equivalent of Patrick Mahomes on a rookie deal right now.Scary to think about. You have to believe they already have a couple of things lined up
They seem to have enough offense, although they have a hole in LF. Nola and another starter?Yup. They really should be flexing their muscles right now with all those cheap deals. They really need pitching. They have Strider, Fried with his shaky health, and an old and declining Morton. Then not much else on the 40 man. They seem to have enough offense, although they have a hole in LF. Nola and another starter?
Bryce Elder was pretty good last season and they have Ian Anderson coming back from TJ. Adding another ace should be the plan. Ohtani and Nola would push their payroll but they make some room if needed. They are the definition of GFIN with the team friendly deals they have on their stars. They really need pitching. Elder is OK, I’m not a big believer in him. But he is a warm body. Someone who should be more of a depth piece, but he is a No 4 in that rotation at the moment.Bryce Elder was pretty good last season and they have Ian Anderson coming back from TJ. Would Moreno trade Trout to LAD? If yes, I could definitely see this happening. Dodgers’ stars are older so would make sense to sell out for a 3-4 year window.
Would Trout agree to go to the Dodgers? If it becomes clear they are going to trade him, he can pick his team ... and the chance to go to the Phillies might be too tempting to pass upWould Moreno trade Trout to LAD? He has 10-5 rights, so it is up to him.Would Trout agree to go to the Dodgers? If it becomes clear they are going to trade him, he can pick his team ... and the chance to go to the Phillies might be too tempting to pass up
Yes, that was my pointHe has 10-5 rights, so it is up to him.
Sometimes folks need things in unisyllabic words here.Yes, that was my point
Why wouldn’t he go to the Dodgers, it’s not like he’d have to uproot his family. Chances are he could stay in the California house he owns today.Would Trout agree to go to the Dodgers? Not saying he wouldn't, just asking aloud if he would. As I posted in the other discussion on this, he might see this as his last, best opportunity to play his home games in front of all his family. Trout, as we know, is a different sort of superstar -- definitely a low-key sort of guy. Maybe the hometown pull might matter more to him than it would to others. Why wouldn’t he go to the Dodgers, it’s not like he’d have to uproot his family. That’s true but if the Dodgers are his only lifeboat, I think he takes it as it seems like a pretty good deal for him. I’m not saying that Philly isn’t a possibility, I just haven’t seen anything about it.Not saying he wouldn't, just asking aloud if he would. This presumes that the Phillies would want to pay him.Would Trout agree to go to the Dodgers? If it becomes clear they are going to trade him, he can pick his team ... and the chance to go to the Phillies might be too tempting to pass up
Absolutely. We're all just guessing here. This presumes that the Phillies would want to pay him.
There is the obvious connection. I just don't see that that would be the best use of resources for the Phillies.Absolutely. We're all just guessing here.
I mean, you can go ogle "Trout Phillies" on the interwebs and see that it's a popular topic for speculation this offseason.
Oh, absolutely ... especially if they lose Nola. There is the obvious connection. I just don't see that that would be the best use of resources for the Phillies.
They need to spend their money on pitching.
If he’s low-key, he would rather go to LA than Philly so he can blend in better. Since he wouldn’t be a Laker. Philly cares too much about sports; can’t be low key there. Not saying he wouldn't, just asking aloud if he would. I think Mike Trout understands Philadelphia sports fans.If he’s low-key, he would rather go to LA than Philly so he can blend in better. Since he wouldn’t be a Laker. Philly cares too much about sports; can’t be low key there.
A team with Ohtani and Trout for the next 3 or 4 years would guarantee at least one and probably multiple championships. Right? I mean I can’t imagine a team with both those guys ever missing the playoffs.
It would be incredible if the Dodgers got them both to add to their team and then finished the season 79-83.A team with Ohtani and Trout for the next 3 or 4 years would guarantee at least one and probably multiple championships. Not to mention every single one of his significant injuries (ones that landed him on the IL) has occurred while batting or running the bases. It's not like he makes a habit of running into walls or pulling muscles cutting off gap shots.I'd you're talking injuries, fine, but he's still grading quite positively in center.
He's got 7 years left on the extension at $37M per. Even in 2030 that's not going to be chump change. I think he has to move to DH if he's going to make it to the end. I think if the Angels do trade him it'll be because they are afraid he will end up like Pujols.I'd you're talking injuries, fine, but he's still grading quite positively in center.
I keep getting fish and cheese recipes?Absolutely. We're all just guessing here.

I don't think that's true. He was a great defensive first baseman early in his career and still pretty good the last couple years in St. Louis. He just fell off a cliff in all aspects of his game as soon as he went to the Angels.I'm not sure the Pujols comparison holds up, he was already negative on defense well before he got to California.
I wonder what that means for the Snell and Yamamoto price tagsNightengale says tentative agreement between Nola and Phillies on a 7/$170 to $175 million contract pending a physical.

Not that it's any kind of exact science, but MLBTR staff predicted 6/150 and ESPN predicted 5/120 for Nola. If he's getting 7/170-175, that seems pretty much in line from an AAV perspective. I would guess that it doesn't really change what Snell and Yamamoto should be expected to get. Maybe it suggests they might get an extra year, but after last winter, is an extra year or two over expectations all that out of the ordinary?I wonder what that means for the Snell and Yamamoto price tags
Nola staying with the Phillies, meanwhile, should make the Braves bigger players for one or the other, or bothNot that it's any kind of exact science, but MLBTR staff predicted 6/150 and ESPN predicted 5/120 for Nola. Sure, but seeing Harper and Trout in the same lineup would be pretty cool too…I imagine that team would hover near the top of the standings!A team with Ohtani and Trout for the next 3 or 4 years would guarantee at least one and probably multiple championships. Hmm. Failed starter who was below average at literally everything except fastball velocity, turned pretty good short reliever who mostly only throws 2 pitches, trying to be turned back into a starter. What could go wrong?Braves have interesting plans on Lopez:

This looks like a good deal for St Louis. Lynn is turning 37 this year but put up 191 Ks last year. Interesting to see if they can figure out how to limit the massive number of home runs.Lance Lynn back to the Cards for the equivalent of 1/$10m (with a club option for '25).
