I haven’t seen any reporting about whether NY can option the three non 40 man players here or not, Weissert has options and Florial does not.

“The Yankees still have to make two more moves. They have to choose between Ian Hamilton and Greg Weissert for the final bullpen spot, and settle on a backup outfielder from Estevan Florial, Rafael Ortega and Willie Calhoun.”
Not super clear, but Boone just said during the in-game interview that Hamilton and Ortega have opt-outs if not selected.

Now NY has released Ortega, he asked to be released after not being added to the 26 man roster.

NY only has 25 guys on the roster currently, and that includes Brito (scheduled for game 3). Sending Weissert and Hamilton (another out on 4/5 but I believe they can add him to the 40 man and option him) makes it seem like they will be adding a pitcher from outside to the 26 man.

So does that mean they can option him if they choose? I thought he was out of options, a bit confused.

I’m curious what the MFY fans on this board are picking for their W/L record
Personally I have never done that for any team ever, it seems like a silly exercise in which wishful thinking plays a large part. We’ll see soon enough!

I’m guessing mid 90’s. They feel very too heavy to me- which is why IMO they played .500 after the ASB when regression/injuries hit. They’re younger and more dependent on youth hitting the ground running. 95-ish wins will get them the Division but I suspect they won’t get deep in the playoffs again

I don't think this roster is set yet, maybe 12 hours until it has to be. I think the Franchy move is an Ortega replacement move since he opted out, Franchy has agreed to go to AAA at least for now and Ortega didn't want to, so I don't think Franchy will be one of the initial 26.

They still need to add another pitcher, as they optioned all of their own candidates for the 13th spot seemingly (unless they are going with just 12 to start, but they have not done that in a long time, I don't think).

Yeah, I think too much bureaucracy around Rodriguez, he is under contract in Japan for two more years, so that would need to be worked out.

Maybe Michael Pineda if he is healthy? He had good numbers in 2021 and last year too until his final few games.
