I am no longer a Roman Anthony fan. It's a good thing Roman is good at baseball because I'm not so sure he has a future in barbering.

Cora said before Monday’s game that the team was impressed with Rafaela’s plate discipline.
Mayer has always looked older than his years, but must he resemble Joe Girardi? It's a good thing Roman is good at baseball because I'm not so sure he has a future in barbering.

Heh, I am not doubting that model and everyone has been raving about Burdi, but it does make me laugh that Tanner Scott (who was fantastic for MIA last season) faced four batters a day or two ago against NY and walked all four.I guess Shugart & Weissery have some stuff this model likes.

But imagine how nice those pitches must have been...Heh, I am not doubting that model and everyone has been raving about Burdi, but it does make me laugh that Tanner Scott (who was fantastic for MIA last season) faced four batters a day or two ago against NY and walked all four.
I'm sure they were stuff-tastic, jaw-droppingly gorgeous walks.Heh, I am not doubting that model and everyone has been raving about Burdi, but it does make me laugh that Tanner Scott (who was fantastic for MIA last season) faced four batters a day or two ago against NY and walked all four.
Makes sense. Hopefully he'll be in a much more rosterable position by this time next Spring.I know he was one of the first cuts but it's a shame we didn't get to see Alex Hoppe in spring after getting a NRI. I texted him yesterday and he said his lat has been tight and they are slowly bringing him along.

Good for a 1.13 ERA. Obviously it’s just spring training, but compared to last year where he was getting rocked, this is what you’re hoping for.
All I know is they don't appear to be stretching him out right now as he's pitched 4 games & 4.1 innings. He could certainly be a guy they throw in the Worcester rotation & have as an option. I don't think he really has the stuff for it & will probably be behind guys like Criswell, Murphy, Winck & maybe Walter for that role, especially since all those guys are already on the 40. But who knows?Has anyone heard anything from Ft Myers regarding Justin Hagenman? He’s the guy we got for Kiké that wasn’t traded for O'Neil.
He made 5 starts for LA before he was traded. And at the time of the trade, Fangraphs considered him a prospect with spot starter potential.
His four innings of the spring look good and we have this new pitching program. I’m just wondering if there’s been anything else mentioned considering the desperate starting pitching situation
I appreciate the response. I just thought of him earlier and haven’t heard a peep since the acquisition. I guess there’s a reason for the silence. But here’s to hoping he develops under the new regime! All I know is they don't appear to be stretching him out right now as he's pitched 4 games & 4.1 innings. He only went 5 innings once last year, doesn't have elite stuff & is 27. If he's part of the rotation this season, it's probably not going to be great.I appreciate the response. I hope you mean “at a time” and not “in total”Could see him being an up & down guy who can give them 2 to 3 semi-competent innings, though.
Let's not get greedy.I hope you mean “at a time” and not “in total”

So many of these posts don't belong in the minor league forum, do they? I missed a whole bunch of stuff that ought to be in the regular ST thread. I wish a mod would move them.

Yup. In terms of some interesting pitchers with at least 4 innings....Feels like a really encouraging spring training, so far. Obviously minus the Giolito injury.
What is the level of batters those pitchers faced? A lot of players with little or no MLB experience get plate appearances in spring training games, especially in the earlier days.Yup. In terms of some interesting pitchers with at least 4 innings....
But our pitchers may be refining a new pitch or the like. . .so it sort of goes round and round. Even so, it's good not to give up runs. I usually look at things like walks and homers. Thusfar I don't see any outliers that are concerning. SSS and all that, of course. What is the level of batters those pitchers faced?
