So unless i'm reading Bref wrong (which is very possible haha) he's only hit 4 fly balls, 2 line drives and 17 ground balls (before today)
His complete lack of hard contact is extremely concerning. He does not look like a major league hitter right now, never mind cleanup. He has to be better than THIS though.

Don't waste your time watching Sale's postgame interview, I asked the Chat AI site to generate his press conference:

"As Chris Sale, I would like to address my recent performance on the mound. First and foremost, I would like to apologize to my teammates and fans for my poor showing. It was not up to the standards that I hold myself to and I take full responsibility for my performance.
During the game, I struggled with my command and was not able to locate my pitches effectively. This led to a high number of walks and hits, which ultimately resulted in a large number of runs being scored against me. I also made some poor decisions on the mound, which contributed to my lack of success.
As a professional athlete, I know that my performance is under constant scrutiny, and I understand that I need to work harder to get back on track. I will be reviewing footage from the game and working with my coaches to make the necessary adjustments to improve my game.
I want to assure my fans and teammates that I am committed to bouncing back and performing at the high level that is expected of me. Thank you for your continued support and understanding."

Seems decent, but there's not enough fake tough guy posturing and going on and on about how it's unacceptable to be so bad and how bad he feels for letting down the team.

Being serious for a moment, the fact that Sale can still strike out so many guys is baffling to me when he also gives up so many hits and walks.

For all the hate Sale is getting, this is one of the better starts for Sox this year (not saying much I know).

We get on Sale quite a bit, but it’s been a quality start. An unfortunate home run after was walk and an rbi single to a Hall of Famer. Seven strikeouts. Not exactly a horrible outing. We should be able to compete when a pitcher gives up three.

To me, 3 runs in 5 IP is not a "quality start". That's a 5.40 ERA. 2 runs and we're talking.

I shouldn't even bother saying here it but the Casas-Dalbec comparisons are pointless. Casas has always had a much better eye and lower K rate than Dalbec. Dalbec didn't break through into the majors until he was 25 and most of his minor league dominance is because he was beating up on much younger AA pitching as a 24 year old, that's a huge difference. Bobby's AAA numbers have never even been that good.

Casas will be fine.

Raffy loves that tobacco chaw doesn’t he? Watched a special on the great Tony Gwynn the other day. Raffy should chew gum.

Rich for DOB to say this place is quiet as he acted like the HR was a routine pop-up for the longest time, ha.
