Really, really happy for Trevor Story. Massive confidence boost for him and the team.

Since I couldn't see it and was afraid to listen to it, can someone explain the intentional balk thing to me?
When it is two outs with a two plus run lead runner on second, Jansen sometimes balks to move the runner to third so he doesn’t have to see the runner dancing in his peripheral vision since he has that look backwards thing on his wind up.

Kenley not wanting a player on 2nd (sign/grip stealing?) with 2 outs and multiple run lead. He dropped the ball for an intentional balk, ump didn't give it, he picked it up again and immediately dropped it, Balk given.

Has he actually said that? I thought it might be a concern over the runner providing pitch location (if not stealing signs with pitchcom) to the batter.

I haven‘t heard him discuss. Yeah, maybe the signal/position stealing, but since he’s done it a couple of times even with the electronic signals, I assume he just doesn’t like the distraction.

WATAH!

Just keep winning series. That’s all you can ask for.

Loved Bullpen Whitlock today too.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
I saw it on the broadcast, but I've replayed the clip a few times too. That blind tag by Urias was freaking sweet.
Story got in place for the cutoff/relay, and Urias was ready for the throw. I don't know if Urias thought about it ahead of time but he moved his glove in the most direct/efficient path to the spot right in front of the bag. If you don't have eyes-on the runner (because you have to make the catch first) it's the best thing you can possibly do. (Also kudos to Pablo for arriving on the scene.)

I'm hopeful Story and Urias are going to help elevate the defense. Now if only we could get Urias's bat back on track. Change of scenery can do it sometimes. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hernaen02.shtml

I was looking at the Nationals probable starters for the next series and noticed the headline from todays game.

Nats’ rally in 9th sets up Jeter Downs walk-off

Had no idea he was in the majors.

It's a WAS vs OAK game, does that really count as the majors?

Sure. . .but Cabrera did it absolutely fair and square against legit competition over a full season. (If the triple crown or .400 BA had been accomplished in 2020 - Ugh!)
No doubt Miggy deserved it, but I watched Yaz's and the Sox's magical season of 1967, including the rousing two game sweep of the Twins at the end and then waited for the Angels to eliminate the Tigers. So, I (guess) selfishly, I wanted to keep that all together.

It's not like a single season record. Yaz still had the Triple Crown that year no matter what Miggy did 35 years later.

I was at the game and happy the Tigers got a couple baserunners in the 8th so he could get an at bat in the 9th. It was a nice send off. The umps are being reasonable now, too. The guy behind the plate didn't start the pitch clock until the standing ovation was over.

Last man to win the triple crown has a ring to it, like the last man to hit .400.

I saw a potentially ill-timed and not terribly popular thread on Kutter Crawford -- while I don't agree with the premise [i.e., longer leash] I actually lean the opposite -- if Houck comes back is it time to put Crawford back in a 2-3 inning piggyback role like Whitlock will seemingly serve? I might be a bit more comfortable with Pivetta taking a consistent turn at this juncture.

We are probably looking at Paxton on 5 days rest, Bello, Sale with a piggyback, Pivetta and Houck with a piggyback. I think Pivetta is the most likely of the bunch here to provide some length. with Crawford tied to one of Sale or Houck and perhaps Murphy tied to the other.

I think that promotion ended recently. Google confirms.
This is different, I believe. I was getting it on that promo until Xfinity decided to end it and charge customers an additional fee. Then I canceled it.

Then they sent me an email saying if I signed up for their rewards program, I could get it at no extra charge.

Maybe not all customers got this, but I would think if @EllisTheRimMan is dropping 400 bucks on Xfinity, they'd throw him Peacock too.

That's crazy money to pay that company.
