Even after Bear Claw got pummeled, he still has a career 3.86 ERA in the majors in 282 IP.
This year in AAA for Worcester, he is 8-0, 2.43 in 55 IP. He's basically been the best pitcher down there.
He's not that bad of a pitcher, but when he doesn't have command, he can get hammered. He's not someone you want to leave out there to try to improve when he's hitting batters and giving up rockets, but that was the situation. The hope was that Sale could pitch into the 6th and then you get by with Bear Claw until you can get to Martin, and then hopefully Jansen.
Bernadino has been really missed so much this homestand.
Yes? They been outscored 26-7 in a must win series while playing stupid baseball, bad baseball, and making bad managerial decisions. Clearly, Astros are better but this team has not risen to the occasion at all. They literally played this team to a standstill just last week.
It could be worse, we could be Joe Castiglione and have to be stuck there listening to Will Fleming for the remainder of this game.
As they say; our destiny is in our own hands. It really is about just finishing ahead of the MFYs.

All the talk this year about the AL East being the toughest division in baseball. I got suckered into that one.....
I'm not watching but Garrett Whitlock seems like just about the last pitcher on earth that would try to hit someone with a baseball.
Wise. You always want to hedge your bets. It would be like saying "It seems as though the Astros are done scoring for the day."
I hear ya, but Sal Maglie would be proud of that Whitlock pitch. It was a classic close shave up and in, but he didn't drill him.
If we get swept in the most important series of the year, and the only work our two best relievers guys is mop up duty, that will be pretty damning on Alex.
