Insane sequence of foul balls, but you can't swing at crap that far off the plate and not expect to strike out

Decent at bat with a shitty ending, and yet another RISP fail.

The Cora debate is exhausting. I'd like to think we can all agree that our players could step up more and make things easier on the staff.
BaPIP is just not happening in these situations.

Oh man, didn't know that about Houck. That is absolutely horrible news. Heartbreaking.

I guess, but our starters need to stop making it so that he has to figure out 4 or 5 bullpen innings every fucking game.
Isn't it the manager's job to optimally deploy the players he has rather than trying to get an extra inning out of them when it's clear it won't work?

Using Pivetta and Llovera to get you through 7 in decent shape on a doubleheader day is pretty good. The fucking offense needs to step up and justify using guys out of the bullpen now potentially burning them tonight. Too many bullshit weak at bats.

Those watching on mlbn, I'd be interested in Costas and Verducci's take on the Pivetta situation, b/c mlbn was talking about how good and important he's been to the Sox. Wonder if they are blaming Cora (I sort of am) for not getting him out sooner.

It's never "clear it won't work." It's a double header. He has a pitcher with 70 pitches who is cruising. He's going to do what exactly? Bring in Martin?

He's cooking with shitty ingredients. The players need to play better. Blaming every time they fail on the manager for not predicting it is just crazy.

If you scroll to the right, there are two games where he had inherited runners which scored.

I don't dislike Love-ra as a pitcher, but he has limitations. Death on righties, murdered by lefties. Use accordingly, and he's a very good sort of "last man" in the bullpen.
I realize that. Winckowski has actually done worse. Last 16.

Llovera seems like a decent guy to use when you're losing. About 2/3ds of the time he has a good chance not to make it worse.

Llovera has just gotta figure out his walk issues. He's putting way too many people on base. Wasn't a problem in the minors, yet to be seen if he can figure it out here

Why do the Sox let the fans move down to the lower sections when it's that empty?

So, you be the manager here. In real time. In a perfect world, Schreiber should come out. But you have a game tonight. And you're losing with the bottom of your line up coming.

Choice between shitty options.

I agree. He shouldn't pitch the 10th

Gerrit Cole remains the new most punchable face on the MFY's. He may join Brett Gardner in the Punchable Face HOF.
