Two in a row, but does it really matter?
Are the teams above us hearing the patter
of our feet in cleats, thus causing a smatter
of fear we’ll draw near and starting to chatter
about how our offense – once so much flatter –
is now a big threat because every batter
is hungry, focused, and ready to scatter
groundball base hits and line drives that will splatter
off outfield fences and even a smatter
that may fly over, causing quite the clatter?
Or, do they not care? I think it’s the latter

Now you're gloomy, too! I am feeling melancholy, which Dickens says is the cheapest of emotions, because of the approaching end of the baseball season.
But Red Sox wins still matter to me. I prefer them to losses. A LOT.
So, let's see what happens this afternoon. Alert to the unaware (which included me yesterday): Game begins @ 4:10 Boston time.

There are two things I've determined about the 2023 Red Sox team: 1. They won't give up, and 2. They're very stupid. Are they stupid enough to not realize they're supposed to "give up" by now and keep fighting to the bitter end. Most teams, I'd say they'd realize the situation they're in by this point. But not these guys. These guys have rocks for brains. I believe they still think they're in this and they're gonna go for it. And, you know what? I'm pretty fine with that.

Let's win like the the dumbasses we are.

I like seeing Wilyer, Turner and Casas within a few spots of each other. Couple of guys who might post walk rates north of 12 or 13% will exhaust pitchers. That's true or Urias in the nine-hole, too

First they got me, which is fine, I deserve it.

But then they got @Heating up in the bullpen and made him give up on his series tracker threads, and I said, "Oh no, that's a shame".

But now they got LynnRice75, and have turned the poetry into tears and I will not stand for it.

The Red Sox must get back in this race and play meaningful games again this season. I demand it!

My poems that expressed optimism weren’t moving the team forward, so I’m simply trying another tact.

A little reverse physiology, writing as if I’m no longer hopeful to see if it reverses our fate.

Plus, after nearly 140 games, I’m running out of positive rhyme schemes.

The Path: Win the next two series, then sweep either Texas or Toronto. If they manage to do that, they are right smack dab in of the Wild Card chase going down the stretch. It's a tall order, but not the craziest thing to imagine. They've already swept Toronto twice, for instance.

Next two series are Tamper and Balmer. No easy task

I agree with this although am doubtful they will pull it off. It is however (at least in my view) still in their own hands. That is the “upside” to playing the teams in front of you down the stretch. Tough schedule, yes but wins will be more impactful if they can be attained. Also though, the flip side of that is that losses will be more impactful as well.

Still no Rafaela? you're really not going to let your #4 prospect get playing time when the season is lost anyways? and you start our #23 prospect over him? Infuriating if he isn't hurt. At this point just shut down Yoshida to minimize injury risk and let Rafaela play every day. Otherwise just send Rafaela back down se he can get ABs.

Let's give some respect to Wilyer: he spent the whole season in AAA and accrued gaudy numbers, whatever you want to say about the league. He's a legit prospect even if he isn't treated as such. Ceddane came up halfway through the season, and it'd be a little bit of a smack in the face not to give Wilyer another start since he's barely played since the 27th.

I want to see Ceddane play too, but Wilyer is the guy more likely to give you a tough AB against MLB right now, I think, and Duvall and Yoshida aren't going to make room.

That @LynnRice75 is still creating these works of art is what is great. You work with the material you have.

The season isn't lost. Just because it's a long shot and fans have given up, that doesn't mean management or the players are going to stop trying. They'll pack it in when they're mathematically eliminated and not a game sooner. The Rays are starting a very good RHP. Should be no surprise they're choosing to start the rookie who hits left-handed over the rookie who hits right handed.

Absolutely. Until you are mathematically eliminated; go to bat with the best you have. Afterwards, you want to play the kids, all for it.

Yeah 3 months between the teams meeting is way too long for a divisional opponent.

If the Sox have any interest at all in Yoshinobu Yamamota, shutting down Yoshida just because probably isn't the way to go about things.

The bad news is that Raffy fell down. The good news is that he got back up.
