I have to say I am disappointed he is pulling a Favre. Especially if his retirement was a ploy. I don't respect that and won't be able to root for him going forward. I wonder if Giselle is really behind this. I had heard that she was very concerned with him getting an injury, especially to the head, that will affect him the rest of his life. As a woman (and a wife) I feel for her if she is really not behind this.
Lol, this is . . . Something. There’s no reason to assume at this point that his family is not supportive.

At least one more season of getting to watch the best ever sling it. Color me happy.

Hard to believe some of the posts in here being annoyed at him. Who gives a shit? The goat is back, who cares if it was a publicity stunt (I don’t think it was). And who cares if he announced it during selection Sunday? There’s always another thing going on, he didn’t steal anyones moment. This is unequivocally great news

It's pretty amazing that he's going to be playing QB at age 45. Wonder if we'll see another QB play at a high level at that age ever again.
I think it’s more likely the NFL ceases to exist than another QB plays this well at 45. The guys incredible

Delay it 30 mins. It’s a Sunday afternoon - who gives a fuck when he posts it. Let college kids live their dream without being ignored.

Edit: it doesn’t matter in that scheme of things but just tone deaf to me. But he’s a QB so par the course.
I literally had no idea the NCAA selection show was today.

Brett Favre told the team he wasn't sure if he was going to come back or not. And then kept the team waiting in limbo. 4 years in a row. It's not the same thing.

I think it's interesting how little interest there is on this site for this story. 100 posts is not nothing, but it's not a lot either. It's almost as if we're not as excited about the GOAT as we used to be.

I’m posting as much as I can but it’s hard to post while simultaneously watching Brady highlights and jerking off

Right, because as well all know the NCAA puts these kids first and foremost in all decisions. I'm sure these kids will make a few bucks during this multimillion dollar tourney.

Apparently, you do.

Do you really think the selection special is must watch/listen for 99.9% of the world?

The best to ever play is coming back to continue winning games. Just enjoy it. Complaining about when he lets the world know is really something.

I guess people need something to knock other people all the time.

Why is it unequivocally great news for Pats fans? It’s not bad news, and I don’t begrudge him continuing to play at all. But I’ve never understood the idea that somehow we’re almost obligated to keep following him and rooting for him as hard as we did when he was here. I largely stopped caring about what he did on the field as soon as he left, other than hoping he leaves the game, whenever that is, healthy.

The cradle of the game.
As suspected, Tom Brady is Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior.

After being baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus was tempted by the devil after 40 days and nights of fasting in the Judaean Desert. At the time, Satan came to Jesus and tried to tempt him. Jesus having refused each temptation, Satan then departed and Jesus returned to Galilee to begin his ministry. During this entire time of spiritual battle, Jesus was fasting.

Its amazing to me that there are fans who believe Tom Brady actually owes them - or anyone - something. Certainly not the vampires who run the NCAA or anyone else in sports for that matter.

The Pete/60 Minutes issue is real. I won't be able to enjoy that episode either now that Brady has broken his sacred contract with a decision he made about his own life. Also, he seems to forget that it was the Patriots that made him what he is. He should be thanking their fans at every turn!

Please, please tell me this is one of the sarcastic ones. FTR, I don’t think it was a ploy, though I don’t know, and I don’t believe we ever will. For me this is a “Who cares? Awesome!” moment. I’m sorry Tom’s behavior over less than a month and a half has somehow overcome the twenty plus years of joy he presumably brought you.

edit typos
Nope, I mean it. Even if Giselle says the good wifey thing that she supports it, I have heard so much that behind the scenes she has always worried about him getting hurt every time he plays. As a trucker's wife I can identify with that as every time he is on the road I fear some idiot is going to run into him even though he is a great driver.

He did have an accident in 2016 that happened when Trump was giving his inaugural address! He called me right after Trumps speech was over to tell me about the accident. Truck was totalled but he only got a scraped arm.

I understand why all you guys are excited but right now I just can't be.

But here you are... :)

And if it keeps Gronk out of Buffalo it helps the Pats.

Unequivocally great news for me. And there’s no obligation to keep rooting for him at all, I just think it’s weird to get annoyed at him unretiring. If someone stopped caring when he left, sure, that makes sense, but anyone who continues rooting for him but is no upset that he retired then changed his mind is just confusing me

I’m gonna guess the specific timing was driven by the fact some media bird dog or another was on the scent, and team TB12 didn’t want to take a chance they didn’t own the story, so they went ahead and put out the tweet.

By calling it charades, you're intimating that it was all a put on. Do you know something we don't?

Sometimes the realities of a decision aren't clear until that decision is made, no matter how much we've thought about it.
No, I'm just making an assumption.

41 days.

Yes, she is being the good wife publicly but her real feelings about it could be totally different. I have heard too many stories of people that know her that she wanted him to retire years ago, so I am unconvinced.
Heck, he was probably driving her crazy being around the house all the time, moping because he is bored and nothing to work towards. She probably begged him to get out of the house!

What's the minimum time someone should think about something before realizing he wasn't ready to make that life change?

Literally none of those college kids dream about ESPN monetizing their *selection to a tournament*. They dream about, you know, hitting the game winning shot in the tournament. Upsetting Duke in the tournament. That kind of thing.

Now I can’t tell if you’re joking. You think college athletes dream about Selection Sunday(TM)???

I low-key think this is probably the reality of it. I can see Brady being insufferable to the point that they tell him to go play again. That way he gets his cake and eats it too.

Damn. You go take a walk and grab dinner and then happens. He loses a lot of credibility in my eye to go away and then come back in a month. Obviously thanks for the 6 rings, but this is weird.

That's fair. I think it's weird that a grown man is as excited as you are about a player for a team he doesn't follow unretiring.

I do think that a lot of people who decide they want to spend more time with their family are shocked when they find out their family has other stuff to do.
