That's pretty amazing if true. The pick is nice, but Zeller isn't garbage himself.Grin&MartyBarret said:I'd guess they're absorbing those guys into the TPE, and the compensation is Zeller and the pick.

Hope it is because Cleveland is signing Lebron.
Weren't the Nets targeting Jack to be Livingston's replacement? Was Thornton productive at all after coming over from Sac?bowiac said:

Celtics get Tyler Zeller, Marcus Thornton and 2016 1st-rounder in 3-team deal and don't have to part with anything due to trade exception.
Brian Windhorst @WindhorstESPN 8m
3-team trade involving Cavs, Celtics & Nets could allow Cavs to open about $24M in cap space. LeBron max is $20.7M

Danny Ainge might have just made himself the man responsible for LeBron returning to Cleveland.

If it wasn't Danny, it would be someone else. Good to see he is not afraid to get assets in what seems like an inevitable Lebron return to CLECorsi said:
If you're describing Thornton he's about as far from a PG as one can be. He's offense at the 2 off the bench.....and he can score big time too. (he'll also make people cringe)the1andonly3003 said:So celts add another PG...Rondo is definitely gone now, right right

Unless LeBron decides to stay in Miami. Of course, we don't know what protections are on the pick, if any.If they have Lebron, Kylie Irving and Wiggins (or Love) that's not all that valuable.

Boston gets: Marcus Thornton-Tyler Zeller, Cavs 2016 protected pick. Top 10 in '16, '17 or '18. Unprotected in '19.

Meanwhile, Boston gets significant assets in Zeller, Thornton, future 1st, to take a swing at Love--if CLE doesn't beat them to it.
Roll it over to 2019 when Lebron will be washed up.
You have it backwards. If Lebron goes to CLE, we'll get the 2016 pick since they won't be in the lottery.Carmine Hose said:
It will do this automatically since they wouldn't be in the lottery with LeBron. Now if he gets injured ...

Thornton's expiring replaces the TPE and his offense replaces Bayless. Zeller takes Humphries slot and the pick will almost certainly be late 20's.
We extend flexibility that Ainge didn't yet utilize and help Cleveland. This deal has little impact on the team or future moves. A big yawn!
Oh please. They get a 23 year-old cost controlled 7 ft center with skills. For starters, Zeller can actually make free throws. Plus they now have $33M in expiring contracts in June of 2015, and maybe more if Green declines his option. This deal will have significant positive impact, possibly starting at the Feb. trade deadline.Boring wheel spinning is all this is.

What are the Celtics giving up in the deal? Only a future second-round draft pick, which will go to Cleveland.

How does it put us in a better position? We could have created Thornton's slot by paying Kardashian or Bogans $8m on a one-year deal. If someone wants a backup big the Kardashian signing accomplishes that too. The picks now are nearly a wash with a 2nd rounder going there.swingin val said:Yea, HRB, you seem like one miserable SOB these days

The trade does virtually nothing we couldn't have done on our own unless you really like Zeller. Ainge got to fuck Riley and we got another big white backup 5 which Ainge appears committed to cornering the market on.....good for him.
I'm not unhappy it's just a big yawn that does little.
