#DFG: Canceling the Noise

Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

I get a kick out out of  Francesa of saying if Brady were unjustly accused he'd be mad.  How the hell does he know how any particular person would react?  Is he a psychologist as well as a talk show host now?  It's easier to believe he just has a chip on his shoulder about any Belichick team and has for years.

Also LOL at thinking Brady isn't pissed off about people questioning his integrity over this bullshit. Obviously he isn't going to let that feeling transpire in his press conference, anyone who knows this team wouldn't expect anything different. Also, if he came out surly and dry, the fat fuck would be all over that too. Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait until America's Game, the Story of the 2014 Patriots to know the truth about the team's feelings about this.

Missed Brady press conference cuz I had a work thing. Grantland's office thought it was a disaster. My dad is reeling. My god what happened?

Just steer clear from Simmons in general unless he's talking about the NBA. He doesn't know jack shit about football.

BREAKING:  NFL investigating Patriots for murder of King Abdullah.
Fines and suspensions forthcoming. The NFL is "distraught" and "disappointed".

Ed, you can say it 1000 times and I will think you are wrong each time.

Brady's denial makes the NFL prove this, almost certainly in absence of any smoking gun evidence.

More to the point, Brady seemed earnest and credible to me.

Yeah, he could have said that he instructed the ball guy to get them to a level he likes, but that he had no idea it was below the legal level or some such thing.  But that would have set of a shit  storm too.

His denial puts the onus on the NFL and they probably have zippo.

And despite your worries, the overwhelming amount of the people in ESPN's poll believe Tom and The Hated Bill.

Yep, talking heads will say Tom should have owned up to it but so what?  They have no evidence, no beef, no nothing.

Which I find amazing, because those guys are clearly second or third teamers of the ESPN athletes. No Cris Carter, Keyshawn, Jaws, Schlereth, Herm Edwards, Dilfer ... hell not even Tom Jackson.

Amen to this.  ESPN trotted out the D team.  Brunell and Bettis seemed overly desperate for attention / employment.  I guess the regular crew is at the Pro Bowl.

I don't understany why people are saying Tom Brady is "obviously lying".. About what? Not deflating the balls?
The Patriots have already been decried guilty of tampering with the footballs, despite any such actual league findings. Thus, since Belichick denied it, Brady must have known. Brady denied, ergo he's lying.

@TerryBlountESPN, Seattle nickel CB Jeremy Lane says of Rob Gronkowski: "I actually don't think he's that good."

Not exactly the thread for it, but what the hell we're all here....Lane (a nickel CB mind you) goes on to expound that Gronk doesn't like getting physical and if he (Lane, a nickel CB mind you) presses Gronk at the line, Gronk will do no Gronking.  I'd take that wager, Jeremy.

One thing any lawyer or reasonable damage control person would not let you do is have a press conference during an investigation to refute facts they are investigating, especially if the truth might prove you're lying. So they're telling the truth, they didn't tamper.
I don't know what the NFL is doing, but our guys are moving on.

God could appear in the skies above, tell everyone to "cut the shit and move on. The Patriots are innocent," and this would still be true.

Say what? I'm not saying Brady lied, just that he would get railed for denying it. I'd like to see more polls, I would be quite surprised if 83% believe that. I'm sure we'll see more soon.

I will say the one thing that would raise my eyebrows were his 12.5 PSI comments. I could see those being interpreted as scripted.

The Patriots must forfeit their opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. The Colts should replace them. If it is not feasible to get the Colts to play, the Seahawks should be awarded the Super Bowl win via forfeiture.

I don't think the NFL would do either even if the Patriots were caught killing witnesses for Aaron Hernandez trial on camera.

What's your take on reports that 11 of 12 Patriots footballs were underinflated during New England's 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts?

  •
    50%
    Patriots' success is tainted

  •
    50%
    Not a big deal

I'm not sure why a poll that pre-dates the Brady/Belichick poll I cited--particularly one that shows a perfectly even split on the matter--is evidence in your favor?

So he should have admitted it even if that wasn't true?

Insanity.
Dude, no. I am just saying what I think people would believe. What am I not communicating? I don't think he should have lied if he didn't do anything. I thought he came off well outside of that 12.5 comment, but we all have biases, and that's the point.

Again, this is me assuming that poll is whacked. Maybe I'm wrong about the perception.

Nearly 600,000 voters nationwide is a better sample than 12,000 voters on a board that caters to boston sports fans

We don't know that, at all. Even if we believe the leaks, all they said was the the Colts' balls were within the spec at halftime, not that they weren't changed from their pre-game numbers. I've not even seen a leak about where the Colts' balls started and ended up, PSI-wise, and given the contradictory leaks on other fronts I'm waiting for an official report.

How many people do you think Gallup polls?

Not that any ESPN poll/web page poll has statistical validity, but that's not because of the number of respondents.

Edit2:Okey doke, now it's there.

Attention SOSH  Ballghazi has nearly reached critical smug.

The only thing that can make this issue more smug, is to have Oprah interview a teary eyed Lance Armstrong, who beseeches BB to just own up, if not for America, than  for love of the game.

Bottom line of that article and what Jay Glazer (who is about as plugged in as anyone) confirm this shit for me. Harbaugh definitely tipped Pagano off about this
Harbaugh has been quoted several times in the past few days saying that they didn't notice anything wrong with the balls.

An actual quote, not an off the record reply from someone near to the team.
