You don't think Dick Radatz was going to jog out to the mound, do you?
Besides the overwhelming green grass, the bullpen cart was the coolest thing at Fenway at my first game.
I don't know if there's a feasible path to trade Masa in the offseason, but I'd be all for it.
His contract is quickly entering albatross territory. 4 more years at big money for maybe 1 WAR per season.
He hit a rookie wall, so it's pretty tough to really evaluate based on his first year here. My sense is that he's going to be a significantly better hitter and a significantly worse fielder.
I hope you're right. Can't see the defense getting any better, but maybe he can come back next year and mash.

Does Dave O’Brien understand what a play by play announcer typically does during a baseball game? FFS all he says about the actual game as it is being played is an end of half inning summary eg “Redsox squander a lead off double, now onto the bottom of the fourth” or “they go in order”. I don’t mind some chatter or joking (I Loved orsillo and Remy or Sean McDonagh and Castiglione but DOB just doesn’t GAF about actually doing play by play.
He defers to players. Millar brings out the funniest in him, but also the worst in terms of PBP.

Yes, 100%. He was a decent role-playing guy who had a massive high-profile moment taking a walk. He has parlayed that into a huge second career as a good ol' boy analyst. Good for him but yeah, it has worn thin quickly and I can do without it now.
He's had massive health issues. I know it's a game thread, but let's try to do better.
