Also, let’s be honest, $20 says they win if LeBron and AD played. Just a shitty night for the NBA. Ratings for Sixers/Jazz can’t be good either.

Charles is like the Court Jester of the “these guys today wouldn’t last a day back when we played”* crowd, and absolutely loves to tweak the Celtics. Until they win a title this is just a perfect storm for him. I don’t watch the show much anymore but I’d bet my house he was saying the same kind of shit about Jokic for the last few years. He’s good TV but when it comes to analysis he is a 0 trick pony.

*Sure would love to watch Shaq try to keep up with a 5-out offense.

They’ve finally jumped the shark for me. They were excellent TV for a long time but they’re just too old and out of touch with today’s game to offer anything even remotely meaningful.

Came really close to booking a suite for work for this game. Decided at the 11th hour the timing was better later in the spring.

Boy am I glad I did. YIKES what was THAT!?

Yeah. Imagine getting these tickets for the matchup with Lebron and AD, then saying "Oh well. At least I get to see the Celtics roll".

Just craptastic all around.

It still seems highly implausible to me that the Lakers had 26-7 advantage in free throws — almost four times as many. Celtics had 19 fouls called, to only 8. And that’s without Lebron and AD. And with the Celtics outscoring Lakers in the paint 38-32. How can that be explained?

To be clear, I'm not saying that’s why they lost. Obviously they just didn’t put the required effort in. At the same time, that’s just not right and something has to be done about NBA officiating.

(And yes, I'm aware of the various "explanations" for the Lakers massive free throw advantage, for the second year in a row now. There may be some merit to some of those arguments, but nothing adequately explains the huge discrepancy they continue to enjoy, and enjoyed last night.)

I watched the whole game. I don’t recall a single time I was particularly bothered by a call/no call. Hard to get fouled when you’re jacking up step backs.

Not just that. One of my team is a die hard LA fan. Bad enough I'll still hear it, would have been annoying live.

I was at that shit show last night. The Cs didn't lose because of the officiating, but any time it seemed like they were going to make a run, they just got zero calls. I thought Tatum was going to get himself tossed. The contact, the reaching in that the Lakers were able to defend with was totally lopsided vs what the Cs were called for the other way.

I felt like Joe was using this game to send a message to the team. I can't remember ever seeing guys get benched as much or as often as they did last night.
