2-6 will be awful today since the Pats came out with their version of the story.

I'm sure they'll have fun with the alternate explanation for McNally being the "deflator."  And who can blame them?

I made it to 2:11.

Mazz is up in arms because the Pats said the Colts gauging the ball was illegal. Calls the Pats babies. So petty of them to include this.

But, Tony, it's OK for the Colts to call the Pats out for a petty offense. And then take matters into their own hands and make sure the Pats got roasted for it before all the facts are understood.

so the Patriots rebuttal falls apart because of the deflator piece, one piece of a larger argument

Yet the wells report is still fine oevrall even toough the science, one piece of a larger argument, has been proven to be junk

and mazz proves that he fundamentally doesn't get it: "the Patriots should be focused on getting their quarteback's suspension overturned"

What do you expect? They know where their bread is buttered, and CBS are major partners with the NFL. Add in they love trolling Pats fans, and it's the perfect storm of suck. Why would anyone that has ever listened to this show tune in during this shit storm of the past week? You just know they were frothing at the mouth going after the Pats and their fans.

Stop tuning in, unless you're a masochist, then go for it, you will get insufferable pain listening.

Mazz continues to be the most useless member of the Boston media. The next time he provides insight or demonstrates a desire to put together an original thought will be the first.

The main problem that I'm having with F&M throughout this is that from the start they have believed 100% that the Patriots deflated the footballs. They have not waivered on this point and it dictates every take they have on this story. They have never once allowed for the possibility that the footballs might not have been deflated.

CBS being partners with the NFL has nothing to do with their stance. If there's one thing you can say to their credit, with one notable exception, I would say that Felger & Mazz do not base their takes or the amount of content on their show based on the station's business affiliations. After all, this is a show where they spend on average 95% of their Pats coverage tearing the team to shreds despite carrying the games. For the Celtics its the exact same. They are a bit more positive regarding the Bruins, but Felger legitimately is a Bruins fanboy (and they still tear them apart a lot as well). Also Felger constantly is trashing the NFL, especially with his views about the owners being greedy and cheap, and his hatred of fantasy football's influence on the game.

The one exception I would say would be the recent big boxing match. Had there not been any CBS affiliation and had they not been provided fully bought and paid for accommodations in Vegas to cover it, I am sure the coverage would have been much, much less.

Agreed; these two trolls are loving every second of this, they've never once considered any other scenario with this other than the Patriots are guilty.

My favorite Mazz comment was "I'm a fan; I know a lot of people don't believe that"..............

No Tony, I don't; you're not a fan.

You're a trolling ballbreaker, you and your sidekick from Wisconsin.

Oh they did.  Now Mazz says that it's possible that JM did not deflate in the bathroom but who is to say he didn't do it on the field.  Umm, Tony, don't you think if that was possible they would have had video evidence of this?  Given how many cameras are on the field for the AFC title game, it'd have been caught.

Yeah I am fairly certain that there is security footage of McNally during every second of the entire ordeal except the 90 seconds in the bathroom

"But we had every single guy on that team called into question, when it comes to his character, integrity. And here's the one thing I would leave you with before we get into a really serious debate over the next few weeks. Felger and Mazz, they should be the first ones that I call because I would love, I would love to just combat the idiocy of those two. But if you're a cheater, right, have you ever seen cheaters put in as much time as Bill [Belichick] and his staff put in every single day, day in and day out?

I loved Jimmy Stewart axing Carelton from wherever after 12 seconds since he started yelling about being cut off at 45 seconds.

I wish they'd re-inforce the no pleasantries policy. It was much more efficient.

what led to Felger berating Hardy for "running F&M into the ground" and "setting the show back a few yrs"?  Did it really take F&M an hour to get from Kenmore to Brighton?

I found that to be one of the more entertaining segment of F&M that I've listened to in years. Hardy was taking calls on F1 Racing, NBA draft, and Bertrand (to promote his show) and Felger got back and was brutal with Hardy on ruining the show. Then Hardy shot back w/a rant about Felger being a trustafarian, grilled cheese selling, Grateful Dead touring dirtbag loser. It was fantastic.

I literally just came in here to say o have not listened to Felger and Mazz in over a month now and it's fantastic. Ever since deflate gate came out I knew they'd be insufferable. I'm never going to go back and if i listen to anything it will be dale and Holley. Felger is going to lose listeners I think because he's an insufferable douchenozzle.

Flipped over this afternoon to hear Felger's old schtick that in the NBA it always about the biggest best guy winning the title. It's like he hasn't watched the NBA at all over the last 15 years. It's such a shallow ignorant comment. I rarely listen to this show anymore and today was a solid reminder of why.

If Golden State gets there, the league MVP will have played in the Finals in 24 of the past 38 seasons (1977-present). If Golden State wins, 16 won the title.

In the NFL, 21 of 38 MVPs reached the Super Bowl, 9 have won it.

In the NHL, 9 have reached, 8 have won.

Despite having twice as many MVPs over the same stretch, only 17 MLB MVPs reached the World Series, only 6 have won, and only one (Posey, 2012) since 1988.

Fact, not opinion.

Just to finish my thought on this ... in the past 35 years, the number of NBA Finals with Bird, Magic, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe or LeBron: 33. (1990, 1994). The number of times one of them won: 27*.

*-Dr. J/Moses won in '83 over Magic; Isiah won in '89-90, once over Magic; Hakeem in '94-95, once over Shaq; Garnett in '08 over Kobe; Nowitzki in '11 over LeBron.

So, really, the only "superstar-less" team to win since 1980 was the 2004 Pistons, and they beat Kobe/Shaq.

So, you need at least one superstar in a sport where you may only play 9 people deep to win a championship?

I think you'd be hard pressed to find many examples of ANY sport that doesn't have a superstar that wins a championship. (baseball, b/c of the number of players, might be the easiest, or hardest to define what a superstar is)

We're getting sidetracked from the fact that Felger is a troll that people still pay attention to for some reason here, but do you really not recognize that in basketball a single player has the biggest impact on a season/playoff series? Obviously a pitcher can control one game (or can be a major factor in a 7 game series), but they're not playing every game. Hockey goalie would be the other one, but they don't play both ways. If you don't have a first ballot hall of famer (or two) on your team, you basically can't win in basketball. That isn't true of the other major team sports.

edit: with only 12 active guys on a team, the individual's impact has to be bigger.

When there's not a HUGE topic that's been flogged to death (like Deflategate) they're okay to listen to. They have their ticks (they hate, HATE Hanley Ramirez for some reason) but otherwise, it's a way to pass the time while in traffic on a Thursday afternoon.

At the end of the day F&M is sports radio and I think that a lot of us are tilting at windmills here. There is never going to be a SoSH radio program at 2:00 pm every day for four hours, nor is there going to be two guys yakking on the radio with whom you have the exact same opinion all the time (unless one of those dudes are you). Felger and Mazz are okay. Yes, there are times when they suck and yes, there are times when they inform and entertain, but for most of the time they're somewhere in between. And that's okay because I'm not sure if there's any of form of entertainment that is 100% in either camp.

JMOH, that's cause he's a DOG. D-O-G. You put the DOG on the field he's going to LIE DOWN.

I'm in the car a huge amount of most days and getting calls constantly, so podcasts etc. aren't really a good solution for me.

If you just don't let them bother you and take it for what it is, they are fine. if you actually get mad about what Felger says, then you need to lighten up. If they're terrible (which happens enough) I just change the channel and go to D&H, who I find to be not very entertaining radio.

I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but Thornton isn't nearly as bad as I thought he'd be. He actually makes the show a bit more entertaining. As the leader of the Jerry Thornton Haters Club I'm ashamed to write this post.

My biggest complaint about Feger and Mazz is how the generalize all Patriots fans by a few ignoramuses that call their show. It is true they get some insane apologists for every thing the Pats, do, but they are calling their own show! If you get a lot of sycophants and simpletons calling your show than blame your show for attracting those types.

Serious question. Why are people still listening to M&F?
I get slow internet service and fuzzy radio service where I live.  Because Felger and Mazz is simulcast, I get uninterrupted sports talk only by watching CSNNE. Otherwise I get sports talk mixed with white noise, or sports talk interrupted by lag. So essentially it is the only local game in town for me when I am at home. If I am at work, or in a car, I often listen to someone else.

I feel the same way about Thornton too. I thought that the was going to be a train wreck, but he's not so bad. Maybe his first month's of appearances he was nervous or didn't have his schtick down. In retrospect, I probably should have given him a bit more leeway.

Felger made be chuckle when he said something like, "WAR says Hanley is terrible, so I endorse it."
