I’m going to speak my truth here…I do not like watching Malcolm Brogdon play basketball. At all
I mean.. he does a ton of things well. Other than you think he shoots too much? He's shooting over 50% from 3 in the playoffs.. what's to hate?

edit: ok.. 'a ton' is probably overstating it.. and his D has been bad in the playoffs.

Pritchard being in the game at the same time as Butler is interesting. Tatum did that drive into a crowd thing he should know not to do from last year's playoffs.

To be fair to PP, he was shoved so badly even Miller noted it
And he still contested with a hand in Butler's face. PP may yet prove to be too small, but that play wasn't a good example.

Edit: He also played Butler so well on his first touch of that possession that he force Jimmy to give up the ball.

I’ll take up 2 after Miami’s hot shooting start and Celtics turnover issues at the end of the quarter.

They’re getting 0 calls, the Heat are shooting very well, we started cold, and we’re up after 1.

He gets tunnel vision and looks for his own shot a bit too much.

Tatum just can't drive into traffic on this team. They collapse the lanes too well.

I hate Butler for what he does to us, but I respect his game at least. Hustle and makes plays
Latest play, brief complaint, no histrionics, Harden or Embiid or Tucker would be yapping for 20 minutes. (I won't touch the home team shenanigans)

Miami was well-rested, they were going to come out hot. Celtics pretty much matched. Onward.

You are right - saw that on the replay. That said, when Jimmy is getting the matchup he wants and is successfully exploiting it - even with the Heat's characteristic physicality - you need to adjust imo.

he’s a good shooter. Really good on the catch and shoot.

if it’s not a catch and shoot situation, it can get really bad. He has horse blinders on. He only looks for his shot (to a comical degree honestly). He’s a really, really bad defender.

It probably is my expectation of what he was based on what I heard. I expected a heady PG and a good defender. Whatever you think of the guy, he sure as shit isn’t heady, a point guard or a good defender

Yeah Pritchard played pretty great defense on that possession, not sure too many defenders would’ve stopped that shot.

To be fair, he didnt have a lot of options on that last play. It was kick it out or travel. Nobody was open
He'd have been better throwing it at the rim than throwing it randomly back towards mid-court, though---fortunate it didn't generate a fast break hoop for them

It is just wild to me that PP basically didn't play all season (11th on the team in minutes played) but he's on the floor in the first quarter of a playoff game. Bizarre.

Miami with only 2 assists and 4 turnovers in the first. Boston’s offense was not optimum but they put up 30

Yeah, agreed overall---PP on Butler is not a matchup I want to see much. And you of course aren't wrong about his size

Brogdon’s role all year has been to score with the bench players. Usually, he’s out there with a directive to shoot, basically. Doesn’t translate as much to tighter rotation, but he’s out there to get points.
