I still can’t believe they missed the net being off it’s moorings for over 30 seconds, and it took an icing call for them to finally notice.
That was my issue. If they didn’t notice, why was the faceoff in the Bruins end? Nobody saw it happen, right? Just play the icing and put the net back on.I still can’t believe they missed the net being off it’s moorings for over 30 seconds, and it took an icing call for them to finally notice.
Here’s the thing - its not my job to make the decisions on how to fix it. I’m the consumer, and it is for the league to figure out how to squeeze the dollars from my wallet. Anything that diminishes my enjoyment of their product is counter to that.I in no way mean that. You are bitching about a problem but putting no effort in coming forth with a solution, which I was legitimately calling you out to do. Not sure how you interpreted my response as such. You’re underpants gnoming the issue and I think if you have a legitimate gripe, you should at least start thinking if a solution.
Each teams GM and coach has a meeting before every playoff game with the official in charge in that series. It's Rob Schick for this one. Here’s the thing - its not my job to make the decisions on how to fix it. However, I agree with what TFP says above - the game moves far too fast to expect the refs to get it right in the moment all the time. Allowing coaches challenges on non-judgment calls like DoG and phantom high sticks is a great start. Also, I know teams already have a way to protest officiating in the games but it has zero bite. The Marchand non-call last night was deliberate - there is zero way that was “missed” especially given the threshhold of the calls throughout the game. There needs to be a greater forum for teams to protest officiating after games and give it some bite - if it is consistently the same refs start penalizing them in some way. Call it the Tim Peel rule.
To reiterate what I said in my original post though - I thought the Bruins played poor enough to lose. Hell I thought the officiating sucked in game 1 and the Bruins took that in a walk. It just ruins the credibility of the outcomes and makes for a worse product.
Yeah, I know - I think I deleted the part where I acknowledged that, or meant to say it. Problem is that its a forum with zero penalty or accountability. If the head official decides to tell the teams to get effed, then what? Each teams GM and coach has a meeting before every playoff game with the official in charge in that series. What they need to do is get rid of offside review. Not add in more replays. Ugh, it makes me angry to think about. That's exactly right. I don't know want to hear that things can't be fixed. A lot of these bad calls, or non-calls can absolutely be fixed. It's called instant replay. Some fans don't like it, and some feel it might take too much time, but I am firmly in the camp of "Whatever it takes to get the call right, it's worth it." They're doing it for off-sides 10 minutes after a play ends, why can't they go back and review if an icing should have been called? Why can't they review a high stick and make sure that the guy that got hit didn't hit himself in the head with his own stick? Why can't they figure out if a guy cleared a puck over the boards or not?
It's clearly obvious that the refs aren't capable of getting the calls right on the ice, so review the fucking calls, and get them right. It's the only real solution to the problem.
I'm with you and @TFP here. The Bruins didn't play well enough to win, but did get the shaft in a badly officiated game. Nevertheless, a result is what it is and the Bruins should be looking to take the next two.I'm rehashing a bunch of other opinions here, but I'm okay after that game.
Tampa (the 1 seed and a favorite to win the Cup- these guys are really really good) hit Boston with their Game 7 effort, the Bs didn't counter with their best, the refs were a disaster (it happens), and the Bs still could have won.
I'm looking forward to seeing the series head to Boston.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Thought that should have been a boarding major. The biggest issue was that slash on Krug...that horseshit call set the expectation that silly shit would be called, and they didn't follow through.
The hit from behind on Pasta with :35 was awful. That was let go for sure because of the time, but that was a brutal hit.
I was appalled at the bullshit last night, but wisely decided to stay off the internet. We need SJH to come in here and give us a rant. Because I think we all would agree
I hope Marchand feels that way. Maybe *that's* what it will take to keep him on the right side of the line he crosses annually.Slash on Marchand on the breakaway and no call baffles me. If that's not Marchand they call the penalty.
If I'm Cassidy, the first thing I'm bringing up in that meeting is "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH BERGY GETTING TOSSED FROM FACEOFFS??"Each teams GM and coach has a meeting before every playoff game with the official in charge in that series. It's Rob Schick for this one.
