10 and 6. She would have no problem with the 10 year old staying up but knew the 6 year old would throw a fit if she didn't get to. She would have been the one dealing with the temper tantrum because there was no way I am stepping away from the TV.

Mods -- any way we can temporarily unpin the 2011 thread? Or find a way to make the separation more distinct? I've almost posted in that thread a few times now and looks like others have as well.

As a Dad to a 7 year old, please let your spouse know it is MANDATORY the kids get to stay up and watch with Dad, or vice versa.. Tell her or him it is a memory they will cherish until they are 99 years old, win or lose. As far as Lurkers here for 15 years? OMG thats committment, maybe we could consider allowing them to become members BEFORE the game starts as a kind of good juju thing.

I need to turn off 98.5. There’s now a discussion as to whether or not Tuukka is elite, and if you need an elite goaltender to win a Cup. In fairness to them, they need to fill a full day’s worth of Bruins-specific content, but Jesus Christ.
Assuming they aren’t idiots, I’m confused. Is Binnington elite?

Hmm my oldest is 7 but missed school sick yesterday. Maybe I’ll let him stay up for the first.

I can’t believe after all the success we’ve witnessed from the local teams over the past 18 years how important tonight feels to me. I won’t waste everyone’s time with a long post repeating much of what many of you have said more eloquently than I ever could, but this team, these players need and deserve to win tonight.

LET’S GO BRUINS! Beat these cheap shotting, racist led, talent bereft scumbags!
This. So much this.

I don't think I have ever wanted a team I follow to win a game more than I want this team to win tonight.

On an early positive note, whatever happens tonight, we won’t have to see Billy Jaffe for the next four months

I just hope I can keep it together during the game. So friggin stressful. Even if we score first, I’ll be all CANT LET THEM TIE IT OH NOOOOES. I guess that comes from living through the dark ages when, aside from the Celtics, we lost every one of these games for like 30 years.

Bs are the better team by almost every measure (esp. coaching and goaltending), and while I’d rather be us than them, pregame perceived advantages guarantee nothing.

Go out there, think, skate, execute.
Yes to everything here

It is very easy from the outside for people to say “Enough already” but when you devote so much time and love to a team like this, it becomes impossible not to feel in the moment that it’s just as important as every other title that has come before it.

Hockey, especially, is a long season and a truly grueling playoffs, typically with the narrowest differences between teams regardless of seeding. The Red Sox, for example, played 14 playoff games last year. Even with a sweep, the Bruins will have played 24 games after tonight, each more hard fought than the last. It’s a season unto itself. There is no option besides Z raising the Cup on home ice tonight.

Berube: we don't have to worry about suspensions anymore. Expect big time goon play from the Blues.
That's so brazen on his part. It's like he's telling the officials that they're going for Bruins' heads. Suspensions shouldn't worry people who play the game cleanly. They only should worry people who issue cheap shots. So if in game 6 they were worried about suspensions for game 7, that means the deliberately did NOT cheap shot the Bruins. If he's saying they're not worried about suspensions anymore, that's not because they've suddenly decided to play clean hockey. Totally expect some Blues to actually injure Bruins players tonight. The refs HAVE to call a correct game here, because by "letting the players play" they're going to allow St. Louis to cheap shot Boston.

After the Vancouver series, I honestly didn't think I would ever again go from having no particular feelings at all towards a team, to an all-encompassing fiery hatred within a couple of hockey games, but here we are. Let's win by fucking 12.

Piss on the collective ashes of the Blues and all those associated with them. I want a story of dominance and margin of victory that would make the USWST blush.

Who remembers “the hand man” at the old Garden? Win it for the hand man, whatever happened to him.

Win it for my Dad, whose first purchase after graduating college was a pair of season tickets with his best friend from high school. This was in 1961. My dad gave up his tickets but “Goon”, as his best friend has affectionately been known for my entire lifetime, still goes. Win it for the Goon.

Win it because I lived in St. Louis for three years during grad school and still have PTSD about the pizza. It sucks as much as their headhunting, dirtball squad of a hockey team.

And win it for all you diehards here at RMPS, who watch every game, who post all the time, and who live and die with this team.
