No, they said it will pulse to tell you left or right, o you don't need to look at it at all.
Interesting, I don't think I would ever fully trust my phone/watch to give me directions without verifying on the visual map.

The walking directions thing is pretty cool if you're in an unfamiliar city and don't want to have your phone out looking like an idiot following directions on it.
So many features of this thing are just 'cool' in a pointless kind of way. Like it's interesting but how many times are you going to use this functionality? Or the moon phases things, or the real-time planet position thing, or even a feature where you can show photos - people are not going to want to look at photos on your tiny watch screen.

It's a glorified notification center.

The Fitness and Workout stuff should be very good, lets see if it is enough to justify the device/price.
It's a perk but if you were into the Apple ecosystem and fitness in the first place you were likely using Nike+. The other stuff (how long have you been standing today?) is another one of those 'well it's cool but...'

Early 2015? Seriously?

Most of the rumors I saw expected that. Pretty big miss by them to not get it out for the holiday season though.

If they didn't call it the Apple Watch, but instead just the Apple Phone Remote + Nike Fuelband combo, how many people would pay $350 for it?

No mention of battery life, that is disconcerting.

Its still probably almost 6 months away, I'm sure they're still working on hitting specific targets before making claims on numbers.

It's a sign that it's still in development. If they knew, they'd likely release it next month. Every report stated that it wouldn't be out for at least a few months, and they were still grappling with that bit.

I guess that makes sense.

I wonder how you authenticate Apple Pay if you use the watch. Do you still need to touch the TouchID on your phone or enter a PIN or something?

Good question.  Would be silly to have to put your thumb on your phone as well.

As a pebble user I'm wondering why people are denigrating something for being a notification center on your wrist.  I have a notification center on my wrist and it's fucking awesome.

Just spitballing here, but I would imagine something like "pre-scanning" on your phone, and as long as the watch doesn't get unpaired and/or taken off (which they can track via your pulse), the authentication would stay open.

I missed the demo of the "Reachability" one-handed use thing because my stream shit the bed, did it look like it actually makes a 5.5" screen usable with 1 hand for a normal-sized hand?

Everywhere
I'm not really sold on the Apple Watch.  Having to use the crown to navigate seems cumbersome and clumsy.  I hate having to use the crown on my watches now, and usually take them off to adjust the time.  I'll go in the store and fiddle with it when it comes out, but it didn't really draw me in as something I'd use all the time.

What I saw was you double click the home button and the screen scrolls down so that the top of the screen is about a third of the way up from the bottom.  Seems awkward at first glance.

Why in the world don't they just have the controls for apps above the home button and have the rest of the screen for viewing (when applicable)? Even on the 5S I'm adjusting the phone in my hand to hit the cancel button (for example) on Safari. For casual scrolling of sites, there's rarely a reason to need to access the upper part of the screen. Does anyone know of a browser that is set up this way?

I haven't used Chrome in a while but I know the Back button used to be at the top/left like a desktop browser which killed it for me, even with a small 4s sceen.
The feature most affected would Scroll To Top.

I didn't realize AT&T still offered $200 subsidies if you extend your contract to 2 years, that's actually kind of tempting. I see those pricing options after checking my upgrade eligibility through the apple store page.

You can use the devices back button be it real or virtual.

Wear it upside down. Maybe the screen flips.
I'm sure this is how it works.  The Samsung Gear Fit asks you which hand you will wear it on during initial setup.

It likely works that way, I'm just a little surprised they didn't even mention it or demonstrate a single lefty using one during all of the random people wearing one in the videos and everything.

I didn't realize how far behind the screen on the iPhone was.

iPhone 6  - 1334 x 750 (326ppi)
LG G3 -      2560 x 1440 (534ppi)
GS5 -          1920 x 1080 (432ppi)

The 6+ is something just over 400.

A QHD screen on a mobile device just seems like complete overkill. Okay, 1080p MAYBE you'll be able to tell a difference, but your eyes aren't going to be able to resolve the difference in resolution of anything higher. I've never looked at my 326 PPI iPhone 5S screen and thought it could use to be sharper. Adding pixels just makes you need a stronger backlight and adds more strain to the GPU at that point. And it costs additional power use in powering the additional pixels, powering the stronger backlight, and taxing the GPU and CPU more to animate the display at that resolution.

Everyone who I have showed my G3 to is amazed by the screen.  My battery lasts me until after midnight with moderate to heavy use.

I'm intrigued by this

Apple has built in Voice over LTE in both models, which is a huge step toward delivering HD calling

For those who know better than me, is this actually a huge step toward better call quality? That matters a ton to many people, including myself.

The other thing that intrigues is being able to be used much more seamlessly on networks around the world.

Beyond that... no sapphire glass and I'm reading about how, actually after all the hype, gorilla glass is preferable. As someone who hates cases, I was really looking forward to a much more scratch proof phone. The overall aesthetic definitely doesn't pop.

So Apple went really thin but barely any increase in battery performance with the 6 and they kept the entrance model at 16 GB.  It's great that the middle tier is 64gb but I feel they cheaped out with entrance phone.

Better battery performance and increase in HD space were the only two things I wanted in the upgrade after the screen size increase.

I don't understand the fascination with getting more and more thin at the expense of performance.  How thin do they want to go?

So besides $, any reason not to go with the 6+ for someone coming from the 5?

A Lost Time
It really bugs the shit out of me, that if you want to buy an iphone 5s now, the largest capacity you can get is 32 gb.
