Interesting, I don't think I would ever fully trust my phone/watch to give me directions without verifying on the visual map.derekson said:
No, they said it will pulse to tell you left or right, o you don't need to look at it at all.
So many features of this thing are just 'cool' in a pointless kind of way. Like it's interesting but how many times are you going to use this functionality? Or the moon phases things, or the real-time planet position thing, or even a feature where you can show photos - people are not going to want to look at photos on your tiny watch screen.derekson said:The walking directions thing is pretty cool if you're in an unfamiliar city and don't want to have your phone out looking like an idiot following directions on it.
The Fitness and Workout stuff should be very good, lets see if it is enough to justify the device/price.Rustjive said:It's a glorified notification center.
It's a perk but if you were into the Apple ecosystem and fitness in the first place you were likely using Nike+. The other stuff (how long have you been standing today?) is another one of those 'well it's cool but...'Silverdude2167 said:The Fitness and Workout stuff should be very good, lets see if it is enough to justify the device/price.

I guess that makes sense.mt8thsw9th said:
It's a sign that it's still in development. If they knew, they'd likely release it next month. Every report stated that it wouldn't be out for at least a few months, and they were still grappling with that bit.
derekson said:I wonder how you authenticate Apple Pay if you use the watch. Do you still need to touch the TouchID on your phone or enter a PIN or something?

Good question. Would be silly to have to put your thumb on your phone as well.
derekson said:I missed the demo of the "Reachability" one-handed use thing because my stream shit the bed, did it look like it actually makes a 5.5" screen usable with 1 hand for a normal-sized hand?

What I saw was you double click the home button and the screen scrolls down so that the top of the screen is about a third of the way up from the bottom. Seems awkward at first glance.
derekson said:Pretty lame they didn't even address left-handed use on the watch.

Why in the world don't they just have the controls for apps above the home button and have the rest of the screen for viewing (when applicable)? Even on the 5S I'm adjusting the phone in my hand to hit the cancel button (for example) on Safari. For casual scrolling of sites, there's rarely a reason to need to access the upper part of the screen. Does anyone know of a browser that is set up this way?

I haven't used Chrome in a while but I know the Back button used to be at the top/left like a desktop browser which killed it for me, even with a small 4s sceen.
The feature most affected would Scroll To Top.

I'm sure this is how it works. The Samsung Gear Fit asks you which hand you will wear it on during initial setup.Max Power said:
Wear it upside down. Maybe the screen flips.

Apparently it is pretty big. Big enough that "you" may not actually like it.DukeSox said:So besides $, any reason not to go with the 6+ for someone coming from the 5?
